Balaim Kesebaeva
Balaiym Tuğanbaiqyzy Kesebaeva (, ; born 23 April 1966) is a Kazakh politician and jurist who's serving as the Deputy Chair of the Mazhilis since 15 January 2021 and a member of the Mazhilis from March 2016. In May 2023, she was appointed Head of the Department of Justice of the city of Almaty. Biography Early life and career Kesebaeva was born in the village of Jambyl in Turkistan Region. She received her education from Taldykorgan Law College, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University where she earned her bachelors. From 1985 to 1988, she worked as the head of the Office of the Department of Justice of the Chimkent Regional Executive Committee. In 1993, Kesebaeva was appointed as a clerk of the Shaha Architectural and Design Cooperative in Almaty and then from 1994 to 1998, she served as a counselor, chief counselor, chief specialist, and head of Department of the Ministry of Justice. Deputy Chairman Of The Mäjilis
The Deputy Chair of the Mäjilis is a post in the Mazhilis (part of the parliament of Kazakhstan) that is chosen by the deputies and are proposed by the Chair of the Mazhilis. The office was established on 30 January 1996 and since 2007, the position of a deputy chairman have been occupied by two people at the same time. The deputy chairman is in charge of carrying out tasks made by the Mäjilis chairman and take over certain roles if the chair isn't able to do. Turkistan Region (), formerly South Kazakhstan Region ( kk, Оңтүстік Қазақстан облысы, translit= Oñtüstık Qazaqstan oblysy) (russian: Южно-Казахстанская область, ') from 1992–2018 and Chimkent Region (russian: Чимкентская область, ') from 1963 to 1991 is the southernmost region of Kazakhstan. Population: Its capital is Turkistan, formerly Shymkent until 2018. Other cities in Turkistan include Sayram, Kentau, Arys, Shardara, Zhetisai, Saryagash, and Lenger. 2021 Kazakh Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Kazakhstan on 10 January 2021 to elect the members of the Mazhilis. This was the 8th legislative election in Kazakhstan's history since its independence. It coincided with the 2021 local elections. This election marks the first to be held under Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's presidency and the first since 2004 to be held at the normally scheduled date, rather than due to an early dissolution of the Mazhilis. 2016 Kazakh Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Kazakhstan on 20 March 2016. The date was set by president Nursultan Nazarbayev on 20 January 2016, when he dissolved the Mazhilis after it had requested dissolution on 13 January, with the reason cited being the economic crisis caused by low oil prices. Normally, the term of the Mazhilis would have expired in fall of 2016.
