Desidae Genera
Desidae is a family of spiders, some of which are known as intertidal spiders. The family is named for the genus '' Desis'', members of which inhabit the intertidal zone. The family has been reevaluated in recent years and now includes inland genera and species as well, such as '' Badumna'' and '' Phryganoporus''. In 2017, the family Amphinectidae was merged into Desidae and the family Toxopidae was separated from it. Those intertidal spiders that are truly marine commonly live in barnacle shells, which they seal up with silk; this allows them to maintain an air bubble during high tide. They emerge at night to feed on various small arthropods that live in the intertidal zone. Distribution As now circumscribed, the family Desidae is mainly found in South America and Australasia, with some species reaching north to Malaysia. '' Metaltella simoni'' has been introduced in a large part of the Southern United States (records exist from California, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida). ...

Tartarus (spider)
''Tartarus'' is a genus of spiders in the family Stiphidiidae. All four described species are found in cave systems of Western Australia. These are located in the karst area of the Nullarbor Plain. They are likely Relict (biology), relict species from a time when the region was much more humid, given the fact that the other members of the family Stiphidiidae in Southern Australia live in forests. Names The genus name is derived from Tartarus, a place in the underworld of Greek mythology, even lower than Hades. All four species take their common names, and the specific epithet, from the caves in which they were first collected. ''Tartarus murdochensis'' and ''Tartarus thampannensis'' are both commonly called Murdoch, Western Australia, Murdoch sink cave spider, ''Tartarus nurinensis'' is also known as the Nurina cave spider. Species * ''Tartarus mullamullangensis'' Michael R. Gray, Gray, 1973 (Western Australia) * ''Tartarus murdochensis'' Gray, 1992 (Western Australia) * ''Tar ...

Type Species
In International_Code_of_Zoological_Nomenclature, zoological nomenclature, a type species (''species typica'') is the species name with which the name of a genus or subgenus is considered to be permanently taxonomically associated, i.e., the species that contains the biological Type (biology), type wiktionary:en:specimen, specimen (or specimens). Article 67.1 A similar concept is used for suprageneric groups and called a type genus. In botanical nomenclature, these terms have no formal standing under the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants, code of nomenclature, but are sometimes borrowed from zoological nomenclature. In botany, the type of a genus name is a specimen (or, rarely, an illustration) which is also the type of a species name. The species name with that type can also be referred to as the type of the genus name. Names of genus and family ranks, the various subdivisions of those ranks, and some higher-rank names based on genus names, have suc ...
