HGTV (an initialism for Home & Garden Television) is an American pay television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The network primarily broadcasts reality programming related to home improvement and real estate. As of February 2015, approximately 95,628,000 American households (82.2% of households with television) receive HGTV. The network was bought by Warner Bros. Discovery, then known as Discovery, Inc., in 2018, since which it has been ranked as No. 4 in audience size among cable networks. History Kenneth W. Lowe (then a radio executive with The E. W. ''Home Town'' is an American television series starring husband and wife team, Ben and Erin Napier, that premiered on January 24, 2016 on HGTV. The married couple restores Southern homes in Laurel, Mississippi. The fifth season of ''Home Town'' (sixteen episodes) began airing on January 3, 2021. On January 4, 2021, a spin-off titled ''Home Town: Ben's Workshop'' premiered on Discovery+, and on May 2, 2021, a spin-off titled ''Home Town Takeover'' premiered. Premise Erin and Ben Napier renovate houses in the historic district of Laurel, Mississippi. After being featured in ''Southern Weddings'' magazine and on the magazine's Instagram, they were contacted by HGTV. WGRZ (channel 2) is a television station in Buffalo, New York, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Tegna Inc. The station's studios are located on Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo, and its transmitter is located on Warner Hill Road in South Wales, New York. However, master control and some internal operations are based at the studios of sister station and fellow NBC affiliate WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina. History The station first signed on the air on August 14, 1954, as WGR-TV, owned by the WGR Corporation, along with WGR (550 AM).
