Baburao Pendharkar
Baburao Pendharkar (22 June 1896 3 November 1967), was an Indian actor, director, film producer and writer. Personal life Baburao Pendharkar was born on 22 June 1896 in Kolhapur in a Brahmin family. Born to Radhabai and her patron Dr Gopal Pendharkar, Baburao was related to quite a few film personalities in Indian film industry. His younger brother Bhalji Pendharkar was a famous film director, producer and writer. Other famous names in family included his younger maternal half-brother Master Vinayak, Radhabai's son after she married Karnataki, and maternal cousin V. Shantaram, son of Kamalabai, Radhabai's younger sister. Baburao married Shree Kumudini and had two sons and daughters each with her. ''Seetha Kalyanam'' () is a 1934 Indian Tamil-language Hindu mythological film directed by Baburao Pendharkar and K. Ramnoth and produced by Prabhat Film Company. The film stars S. Rajam and S. Jayalakshmi in the lead roles and marks the cinematic debut of notable musicians Papanasam Sivan and S. Balachander. The film is significant for being the first Tamil production to feature colour, achieved using hand-colouring techniques. It was remade in Telugu the same year under the same title. ''Ayodhyecha Raja'', literally "The King of Ayodhya", was the first Marathi talkie, released in 1932, directed by Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre. It is based on the puranic story of Raja Harishchandra of Ayodhya and his test by sage Vishwamitra, as recounted in Valmiki's epic, ''Ramayana''. The film was also made as a double-version, ''Ayodhya Ka Raja'' (1932) in Hindi, making it the first double version talkie of Indian cinema, wherein Munshi Ismail Farogh wrote the Hindi dialogue, while screenwriter N.V. ''Chandrahasa'' is a 1933 Hindi mythological costume drama film directed by Sarvottam Badami. It was the first Hindi film directed by Badami, bringing him into prominence, even though he did not know Hindi. It was also one of the first Talkie versions of the film which was remade several times. Produced by Sagar Movietone, it had music composed by S. P. Rane.
