BC Rakvere Tarvas
BC Tarvas is a professional basketball club based in Rakvere, Estonia. The club competes in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League. Their home arena is the Rakvere Sports Hall. History 2006–2017 Rakvere Tarvas was founded in 2006 by Andres Sõber and joined the top-tier Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) for the 2006–07 KML season, 2006–07 season, replacing another Rakvere based team, the financially troubled Rakvere Palliklubi. The team name Tarvas, meaning ''Aurochs'' in Estonian, is the Rakvere#Tarvas statue, symbol of Rakvere and is derived from the historic name of Rakvere, Tarvanpea (''Aurochs' head''). Rakvere Tarvas finished the 2006–07 regular season in 6th place, reaching the playoffs, where the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Korvpalli Meistriliiga
The Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) is the top-tier men's basketball league in Estonia. The league is organized by the Estonian Basketball Association and played under rules of basketball#International Rules of Basketball, FIBA rules. The competition was founded in 1925. From the 1998–99 season until the end of the 2001–02 season the league was organized by the Eesti Korvpalliklubide Assotsiatsioon (English: Estonian Basketball Clubs' Association). As of the 2018–19 season, Estonian-Latvian Basketball League regular season games count towards the KML standings, followed by KML Play-offs. Rapla KK, also known as UTILITAS RAPLA for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Rapla, Estonia. The team plays in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League and the Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML). Their home arena is the Sadolin Sports Hall. History The origins of the team can be traced back to Korvpalliklubi Rapla (Basketball Club Rapla), which was founded in 1996 as a division of the Rapla Sports School. BC Kalev, also known as BC Kalev/Cramo for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Tallinn, Estonia. The Latvia men's national basketball team () represents Latvia in international basketball. They are organized and run by the Latvian Basketball Association. Latvia has reached the European Basketball Championship 15 times, with their ultimate success occurring during the inter-war period, when they became the first team to win the tournament in 1935. Juris Umbraško (born 29 July 1978 in Jekabpils, Latvia) is a Latvian professional basketball coach and player. He heads the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League team Rīgas Zeļļi. Club play Umbraško started his senior club career with Latvijas Basketbola līga team ASK Broceni LMT and later moved to European basketball powerhouse CSKA Moscow. In 2002 he returned to Latvia to represent BK Ventspils and won the Latvian Championship titles in 2002 and 2003. After years abroad and in Latvia, he struggled to play consistently. Kaspars Cipruss (born February 2, 1982) is a former Latvian basketball player. He is the current General Secretary of the Latvian Basketball Association. Club career Born in Rēzekne, Latvia, Cipruss started his basketball career in Latvian powerhouse ASK/Brocēni/LMT in 1998. After extinction of the team he had a brief spell in Latvian team BK Gulbenes Buki. In 2000, he drew interest from Rutgers, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, UNLV and Boston College. Cipruss signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Rutgers, but he had letter-of-intent problem, so he decided instead to play professionally in Europe. 2010–11 Baltic Basketball League
The MasterCard Baltic Basketball League 2010–11 was the 7th season of the Baltic Basketball League and the second under the title sponsorship of Mastercard. It was the fourth season of BBL as a two division league. The format featured 14 teams in the Elite Division and 10 teams in the Challenge Cup. Elite Division regular season started on September 29, 2010, and ended with the Final Four held in the Kaunas Sports Hall. It was won by BC Žalgiris who defeated BK VEF Rīga in the championship game on April 10, 2011.
