Aviv Geffen (album)
''Aviv Geffen'' is the debut, English-language studio album by Israeli post-punk singer-songwriter Aviv Geffen, released on 19 October 2009 in the UK. Apart from one track Geffen produced himself, the album was produced by David Andrew Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Trevor Horn (The Buggles, Pet Shop Boys, Yes) and Ken Nelson (Coldplay). The band also features contributions from members of Aviv Geffen's side project Blackfield: Seffy Efrati on bass, Tomer Z on drums and Eran Mitelman on keyboards, all performing on the same 3 tracks, as well as Steven Wilson (guitar). "It's Cloudy Now" was originally written and recorded by Geffen in Hebrew. Blackfield previously performed this English-language version on their debut album ''Blackfield''. However, that version was titled "Cloudy Now" and was credited to Geffen and Steven Wilson. Aviv Geffen ( he, אביב גפן, born 10 May 1973) is an Israeli rock musician, singer, songwriter and the son of writer and poet Yehonatan Geffen and Nurit Makover, brother of actress Shira Geffen, and an alumnus of Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. In addition to his solo career, Geffen is a founding member of the band Blackfield , he was also the global music director for WeWork. Geffen was and is extremely popular among Israeli youth who were known during the 1990s as the "Moonlight Children" (). Politically, he associates with the Israeli left. Michael David Garson (born July 29, 1945) is an American pianist, who has worked with David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, St. Vincent, Duran Duran, Free Flight and The Smashing Pumpkins. Early career Garson went to Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. After graduating from Brooklyn College with a music degree in 1970, Garson was a member of rock/country/jazz band Brethren with Rick Marotta, Tom Cosgrove and Stu Woods. Blackfield (album)
''Blackfield'' is the debut album by the art rock band Blackfield, released on the Snapper Music/ Helicon labels in February 2004. The album was re-released in August of the same year with an additional three-track bonus disc, followed by a later pressing that contains the album and the three bonus tracks all on one CD. Two songs are covers in English of earlier Aviv Geffen songs in Hebrew, "Cloudy Now" () from 1993 and "Scars" () from 2000. In the latter case, Aviv's original studio recording was simply reused with newly sung vocals. Four singles were released from the album: "Hello", "Pain", "Blackfield" and "Cloudy Now".
