Mike Garson
Michael David Garson (born July 29, 1945) is an American pianist, who has worked with David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, St. Vincent, Duran Duran, Free Flight and The Smashing Pumpkins. Early career Garson went to Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. After graduating from Brooklyn College with a music degree in 1970, Garson was a member of rock/country/jazz band Brethren with Rick Marotta, Tom Cosgrove and Stu Woods. They recorded two albums, ''Brethren'' (1970) and ''Moment of Truth'' (1971), on the Tiffany label, which featured guest piano and liner notes by Dr. John (and album photography by Murray Head, who scored a hit with "Say it Ain't So Joe", "Jesus Christ Superstar", and later with the single " One Night in Bangkok"). The Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins (also referred to as simply Smashing Pumpkins) are an American alternative rock band from Chicago. Formed in 1988 by frontman and guitarist Billy Corgan, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, the band has undergone List of the Smashing Pumpkins band members, several line-up changes since their reunion in 2006, with Corgan being the sole constant member since its inception. ''Play Don't Worry'' is the second album by English guitarist and singer Mick Ronson, recorded in 1974 and released in January 1975 after his several projects in the early seventies together with David Bowie, Lou Reed and the band the Spiders from Mars. It contains mainly covers arranged by Ronson for his own sound, covering everyone from Pure Prairie League, The Velvet Underground and Little Richard. The backing track to " White Light/White Heat" was salvaged from Bowie's '' Pin Ups'' sessions. The title track was co-written by Bob Sargeant, later producer to The Beat amongst others, who released an album ''First Starring Role'' in April 1974 which included Ronson on recorder and producing four tracks. Slaughter On 10th Avenue (Mick Ronson Album)
''Slaughter on 10th Avenue'' is the debut album by English guitarist Mick Ronson, then-guitarist of David Bowie's backing band the Spiders from Mars. It was released in February 1974 by RCA Records. For inspiration, Ronson relied on Annette Peacock's 1972 album '' I'm the One''; he used the title track and her arrangement of Elvis Presley's " Love Me Tender". Two songs were co-written by Ronson with Scott Richardson, who had been involved in the Ann Arbor music scene since the mid-'60s and came to prominence as lead singer of the SRC. Richardson was brought into the Bowie camp by Angie Bowie, who met him through Ron Asheton of the Stooges. Mick Ronson
Michael Ronson (26 May 1946 – 29 April 1993) was an English musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer. He achieved critical and commercial success working with David Bowie as the guitarist of the Spiders from Mars. He was a session musician who recorded five studio albums with Bowie followed by four with Ian Hunter, and also worked as a sideman in touring bands with Van Morrison and Bob Dylan. Ronson and Bowie also produced Lou Reed's '' Transformer'' with Ronson playing lead guitar and piano and writing string arrangements, which brought mainstream recognition. Annette Peacock
Annette Peacock is an American composer, musician, songwriter, producer, and arranger. She is a pioneer in electronic music who combined her voice with one of the first Moog synthesizers in the late 1960s. Biography Annette Peacock was writing music by the time she was four years old. She is self-taught except for her time as a student at The Juilliard School in the early 1970s. She grew up in California. She moved to New York to marry jazz bassist Gary Peacock in 1960. ''I'm the One'' is the debut solo album by Annette Peacock and was released by RCA in 1972. In 2010 Peacock remastered and reissued it on her label, ironic US, in a signed, collector's edition. In 2012, the album was reissued again by the Future Days imprint of Light in the Attic Records. ''I'm the One'' fuses blues, jazz, avant-garde electronic music (including extensive treatment of her own voice through a Moog synthesizer) and free form poetry and rap. It was recorded live and mostly in single takes. The coda of the David Bowie song "Something in the Air," from the album ''Hours'', paid homage to "I'm the One," a song of which Bowie was fond.
