Astri Welhaven Heiberg
Astri Welhaven Heiberg (14 December 1881 – 26 May 1967) was a Norwegian painter, best known for her portraits of female nudes and landscapes. Biography Family Welhaven Heiberg was born in Kristiania into a family with close relationships with key people in Norwegian cultural life. Her sister Sigri Welhaven was a sculptor. Her father, Hjalmar Welhaven (1850–1922), was the second-oldest son of the poet Johan Sebastian Welhaven (1807–1873) and his Danish wife Josephine Angelica Bidoulac (1812–1866). Johan Sebastian Welhaven's father, Johan Ernst Welhaven (1775–1828), was a priest, who served among other locations at St. George's Church in Bergen, which was a church and hospital for the lepers in the district. Hjalmar Welhaven was an architect, and designed wooden buildings and workers' homes in Kristiania. Oslo
Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of 1,064,235 in 2022, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age, the area was part of Viken. Jean Heiberg
Jean Hjalmar Dahl Heiberg (19 December 1884 – 27 May 1976) was a Norwegian painter, sculptor, designer and art professor. Personal life Heiberg was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Hjalmar Heiberg (1837–97) and Jeanette Sofie Augusta Dahl (1848–84). Both his father and grandfather were professors of medicine. His mother died of puerperal fever one week after his birth. Heiberg's first wife (from 1913 to 1920) was the sculptor Sigri Welhaven. In 1922 he married the painter Agnes Mannheimer, who died in 1934. In 1954 he married Anna Cleve (1916–1996). Career Heiberg finished his secondary education at Hamar in 1903. He studied at the Royal Drawing School (''Den Kongelige Tegneskole'') in Kristiania from 1903 to 1904, and in Munich from 1904 to 1905. He studied at the Académie Colarossi in Paris in 1905. Princess Märtha Of Sweden
Princess Märtha of Sweden (Märtha Sofia Lovisa Dagmar Thyra; 28 March 1901 – 5 April 1954) was Crown Princess of Norway as the spouse of the future King Olav V from 1929 until her death in 1954. As Olav only became king in 1957, Märtha never became Queen of Norway. Her son, Harald V, is the current king of Norway. Princess Märtha was also an elder sister of Queen Astrid of Belgium and a maternal aunt of Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte of Luxembourg and Kings Baudouin and Albert II of Belgium. In 1940, Crown Princess Märtha and her family were immersed in World War II as Germany invaded Norway. After escaping to her home country of Sweden, and then being evacuated to America by President Franklin D. Haakon VII Of Norway
Haakon VII (; 3 August 187221 September 1957) was King of Norway from 18 November 1905 until his death in 1957. The future Haakon VII was born in Copenhagen as Prince Carl of Denmark. He was the second son of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark (later King Frederick VIII and Queen Louise). Prince Carl was educated at the Royal Danish Naval Academy and served in the Royal Danish Navy. After the 1905 dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway, he was offered the Norwegian crown. Following a November plebiscite, he accepted the offer and was formally elected king of Norway by the Storting. He took the Old Norse name ''Haakon'' and ascended the throne as Haakon VII, becoming the first independent Norwegian monarch since Olaf II in 1387. Southern Norway Art Museum
The Southern Norway Art Museum () is located in Kristiansand, Norway in the building that until 1970 hosted the Kristiansand Cathedral School. The museum is a foundation, and it was created in 1995, with the counties of Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder as initiators together with the municipality of Kristiansand and the Kristiansand Art Gallery. The museum is working with both art and crafts. The foundation will work to create interest, awareness and competence in relation to the visual arts, crafts and other visual forms of expression. Lillehammer Art Museum
Lillehammer Art Museum () is an art gallery located in Lillehammer, Norway. The museum was founded in 1921 as a gift from merchant Einar Lunde. It has three main collections: one consisting of over 100 paintings from adherents of the Matisse school, donated by Einar Lunde from the 1920s. In 1958, antique dealer Oscar Johannesen donated his entire collection from the 19th century. In 2008, Jon Dobloug donated major parts of his collection including 159 paintings dating from the 1980s and 1990s. The older part of the collection, pictures donated by Lunde and Johannessen, is mainly found in the building designed by architect Erling Viksjø, which was completed in 1963. The National Museum (, officially the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design) is a museum in Oslo, Norway which holds the Norwegian state's public collection of art, architecture, and design objects.
