Saint Asaph
Saint Asaph (or Asaf, Asa) was, in the second half of the 6th century, the first Bishop of St Asaph, i.e. bishop of the diocese of Saint Asaph. Biography No traditional Welsh language, Welsh account devoted to the life of Asaph exists. He is, though, well-attested to through place names. Local tradition points out many landmarks attested to him; his ash tree, his church, his well and his Valley. Many local names bear the "asa" associated with his name; Onnen Asa, Ffynnon Asa, Llanasa, Pantasa. All these sites are near Holywell, Flintshire, Holywell in Tegeingl (Flintshire), indicating probably that the saint may once have had a hermitage in that area. The ''Bonedd y Saint'' tells us that he was a son of King Sawyl Penuchel from the ''Old North'' or Y Gogledd Hen, Yr Hen Ogledd; his mother was said to be Gwenaseth, daughter of Rhufon Rhufoniog.

Asaf Simhoni (Also spelled Asaf Simchoni; ; October 9, 1922 - November 6, 1956) was a major general in the IDF, served as head of Northern Command, Assistant Head of Operations Directorate, and later as the Head of Southern Command. Asaf Zeynalabdin oglu Zeynally (), also spelled Zeynalli (5 April 1909, Derbent – 27 October 1932, Baku), was an Azerbaijani composer. Early life Asaf Zeynally was the third child of the gardener Zeynalabdin and his wife Asband. He grew up in a house located next to Derbent's famous historical Naryn-Kala sight. Asaf Zeynally's father died shortly after his birth, and his mother, Asband, a Weaver (occupation), weaver, became the family's breadwinner. Asaf Yasur (; born 17 April 2002) is an Israeli Paralympic champion and world champion para taekwondo athlete. He was world champion in both 2021 and 2023. Asaf Lifshitz (; 28 July 1942 – 22 March 2025) was an Israeli sculptor, whose many statues decorate different central places all over Israel, from Metula in the north to Beer Sheva in the south. Background Lifshitz was born in 1942 in Kibbutz Ma'oz Haim. He was the son of Israel (Srulik) anLea Lifshitzof Shershevsky. He studied at the local school of Kibbutz Ma'oz Haim and served as a tankist at the Israeli Armored Corps of the IDF. Many members of the Lifshitz family are engaged in the arts of sculpture, painting, design, etc. Asaf was the cousin of the painter Uri Lifshitz. Asaf-ud-Daula
Mirza Asaf-ud-Daula (23 September 1748 – 21 September 1797) was the Nawab wazir of Oudh ratified by Shah Alam II, from 26 January 1775 to 21 September 1797, and the son of Shuja-ud-Dowlah. His mother and grandmother were the Begums of Oudh. Reign Asaf-ud-Dowlah became Nawab at the age of 26, on the death of his father, Shuja-ud-Daula, on 28 January 1775. He assumed the throne with the aid of the British East India Company, outmanoeuvring his younger brother Saadat Ali who led a failed mutiny in the army. British Colonel John Parker defeated the mutineers decisively, securing Asaf-ud-Daula's succession. His first Chief Minister, Mukhtar-ud-Daula, was assassinated in the revolt.
