Asaf Yasur
Asaf Yasur ( he, אסף יסעור; born 17 April 2002) is an Israeli taekwondo athlete. He was world champion in both 2021 and 2023, and a gold medalist at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. Early life Yasur lost both his hands at age 13, after suffering injuries that required amputation following an electrocution from a high-voltage electric cable. Career In 2019 Yasur gained his first international medal, achieving second place at the Mexico Para Taekwondo Open Championships. Yasur won the gold medal in the 2021 World Para-Taekwondo Championships in Istanbul. After winning the 2023 World Para Taekwondo Championships in Mexico, Yasur qualified for the 2024 Summer Paralympics. ''Taekwondo'', ''Tae Kwon Do'' or ''Taekwon-Do'' (; ko, 태권도/跆拳道 ) is a Korean form of martial arts involving punching and kicking techniques, with emphasis on head-height kicks, spinning jump kicks, and fast kicking techniques. Electrocution
Electrocution is death or severe injury caused by electric shock from electric current passing through the body. The word is derived from "electro" and "execution", but it is also used for accidental death. The term "electrocution" was coined in 1889 in the US just before the first use of the electric chair and originally referred to only electrical execution and not other electrical deaths.
