Arthur J. Tuttle
Arthur J. Tuttle (November 8, 1868 – December 2, 1944) was a United States federal judge, United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Education and career Born in Leslie, Michigan, Leslie, Michigan, Tuttle received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of Michigan in 1892 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Michigan Law School in 1895. He was in private practice in Leslie and Lansing, Michigan, Lansing, Michigan from 1895 to 1899. He was prosecuting attorney of Ingham County, Michigan, Ingham County, Michigan from 1899 to 1902 and a member of the Michigan Senate from 1907 to 1910. The Michigan Senate is the upper house of the Michigan Legislature. Along with the Michigan House of Representatives, it composes the state legislature, which has powers, roles and duties defined by Article IV of the Michigan Constitution, adopted in 1963. Max Stephan
Max Stephan (July 10, 1892 – January 13, 1952) was a German-born American citizen convicted of Treason laws in the United States, treason for aiding Peter Krug, a German pilot who had escaped from a Prisoner-of-war camp, prisoner of war camp in Canada. Stephan was initially sentenced to death by hanging. However, President Franklin D. Roosevelt commuted his sentence to life imprisonment just nine hours before he was scheduled to be executed. Stephan died in prison in 1952. Stephan became the first person to be convicted of federal treason charges in a civilian court since the 1790s’ Whiskey Rebellion.
