Arnold Feil
Arnold Feil (2 October 1925 – 30 March 2019) was a German musicologist and academic scholar. Life Feil was born in Mannheim, but grew up in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. He studied music (piano and conducting) at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim as well as musicology, Latin philology of the Middle Ages, history (Middle Ages), philosophy and history of art at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, which he completed with a doctorate in 1954. From 1954 to 1958, he worked as a music commissioner at the cultural office of the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein. From 1959 to 1982, he was a lecturer for musicology at the University of Stuttgart; at the same time he was a lecturer for musicology at the Fachhochschule für Bibliothekswesen Stuttgart. Musicologist
Musicology (from Greek μουσική ''mousikē'' 'music' and -λογια ''-logia'', 'domain of study') is the scholarly analysis and research-based study of music. Musicology departments traditionally belong to the humanities, although some music research is scientific in focus (psychological, sociological, acoustical, neurological, computational). Some geographers and anthropologists have an interest in musicology so the social sciences also have an academic interest. A scholar who participates in musical research is a musicologist. Musicology traditionally is divided in three main branches: historical musicology, systematic musicology and ethnomusicology. Historical musicologists mostly study the history of the western classical music tradition, though the study of music history need not be limited to that. Andreas Holschneider (6 April 1931 – 24 September 2019) was a German music historian and writer. Life Holschneider was born in 1931 in Freiburg im Breisgau as the oldest of four sons of the chemist Friedrich Wilhelm Holschneider and Olga Holschneider, ''née'' Krafft. He studied piano with Edith Picht-Axenfeld at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg where he received his concert diploma in 1956, then studied musicology and Romance studies and was awarded the degree "pianist" (Dr. phil.) in 1960 with a thesis on Handel's ''Messias'' in Mozart's arrangement at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. After a one-year research stay in Italy to study sources for the ''Neue Mozart-Ausgabe'', he became an assistant at the Musicological Institute of Hamburg University. It is the first of Schubert's two seminal cycles (preceding ''Winterreise'')'','' and a pinnacle of ''Lied'' repertoire. ''Die schöne Müllerin'' is performed by a pianist and a solo singer. Heinrich Christoph Koch
Heinrich Christoph Koch (10 October 1749 – 19 March 1816) was a German music theorist, musical lexicographer and composer. In his lifetime, his music dictionary was widely distributed in Germany and Denmark; today his theory of form and syntax is used to analyse music of the 18th and 19th centuries. Life Koch was born in Rudolstadt, in the federal state of Thüringen. In his youth, he was a violinist in the Rudolstadt court orchestra and from 1772 as a chamber musician. He was taught music by his father - a valet to Johann Friedrich von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, prince of the small state of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt; later he was tutored in violin and composition by Christian Gotthelf Scheinpflug, the prince's band leader.
