Armenian Renaissance (party)
Orinats Yerkir (, ՕԵԿ/OEK) is a political party operating in Armenia. Its foundation was in 1998, and founder Artur Baghdasaryan continues to lead the party. The party was formerly known as Armenian Renaissance (), during the run-up to the 2017 parliamentary elections. The party's name is translated into English in a number of ways, including Country of Law and Rule of Law. Party history The party participated in elections for the first time during the 1999 Armenian parliamentary election, winning a total of 6 seats in the National Assembly (Armenia), National Assembly. Following the 2003 Armenian parliamentary election, 2003 elections, the party won 19 seats. Artur Baghdasaryan
Artur Baghdasaryan (, born November 8, 1968) is an Armenian politician and former chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia and a former secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia. He is the leader of the Rule of Law party. He is married and has two children. Biography Baghdasaryan was born in Yerevan. In 1985, he finished the Khachatur Abovian Secondary School in Yerevan. In the same year, he entered the Law Faculty of Yerevan State University and graduated in 1992. He served in the army from 1988 to 1989. From 1989 to 1993, Artur Baghdasaryan worked as a journalist, serving as head of department and later as deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper ''Avangard''. In November 1993, he entered public service when he was elected deputy chairman of the Executive Committee of the Shengavit Community Council. Yerevan City Council
The Yerevan City Council () is the lawmaking body of the city of Yerevan, the capital and largest city of Armenia. It has 65 members elected by party-list proportional representation system, headed by the Mayor of Yerevan. The council monitors performance of city agencies and makes land use decisions, as well as, legislating on a variety of other issues. The city council also has sole responsibility for approving the city budget and each member is limited to three consecutive terms in office and can run again after a four-year respite. Homeland Salvation Movement
The Homeland Salvation Movement () was an Armenian political alliance, consisting of several opposition political parties, led by Vazgen Manukyan. History The alliance was established on 3 December 2020 from the dissatisfaction of the Government of Armenia's handling of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. The alliance was critical of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire agreement which followed and actively called for the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan to resign. The alliance had proposed for itself to assume interim power, which would then be followed by elections. 2018 Yerevan City Council Election
Yerevan City Council elections were held on 23 September 2018. The snap election was triggered after the resignation of former mayor Taron Margaryan amid the aftermath of the 2018 Armenian Velvet Revolution. Unified Armenians Party
The Unified Armenians Party () is a political party in Armenia. It is led by Ruben Avagyan. History The party nominated Ruben Avagyan as its candidate in the 2003 Armenian presidential election. Avagyan came in sixth place, receiving 0.41% of the vote. The party failed to gain any representation in the National Assembly after the 2012 Armenian parliamentary election, receiving just 0.20% of the popular vote. In 2017, the party formed the "Armenian Renaissance" alliance and merged with Orinats Yerkir, a centrist Pro-European political party.
