Areva Challenge
Orient Express Racing Team is a French yacht racing team that competes in International America's Cup Class races. The team has formally competed as K-Challenge, Areva Challenge (between 2005 and 2007) and ALL4ONE Challenge. History As Areva Challenge they participated in the Louis Vuitton Cup 2007, the challenger series held prior to the 32nd America's Cup. They were eliminated in the Round Robin phase. They also competed in the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series in 2009 and are part of the Louis Vuitton Trophy, hosting the Louis Vuitton Trophy - Nice event. In February 2023 the team was rebranded to Orient Express Racing Team after sponsorship from Orient Express and Accor. List Of IACC Yachts
Sail numbers for the 'new generation' International America's Cup Class (IACC) yachts are issued on a sequential numerical basis. The number is then prefixed by the abbreviation for the country. If a yacht is subsequently sold to a team in a different country then the number remains unchanged but the prefix changes to reflect the new country of ownership. Race reports tend to use team names rather than the boat names and in most cases a boat does not have a unique name. So it has become difficult to know which actual boat raced in a particular event without reference to the results list published by the race organisers. International America's Cup Class
The International Americas Cup Class is a class of racing yacht that was developed for the America's Cup between 1992 and 2007. These yachts, while not identical, were all designed to the same formula to offer designers the freedom to experiment whilst keeping the boats sufficiently comparable to race in real time. The class was established for the 1992 America's Cup because of perceived shortcomings of the 12-metre class, which had been used in the America's Cup since 1958. The 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup held in Valencia, Spain, from April 16 to June 6 was the event used to select the challenger for the 2007 America's Cup. Eleven potential challengers competed in the competition which consisted of two round robins, two semi-finals and a final. 32nd America's Cup
The 2007 America's Cup was the thirty-second challenge for the America's Cup and was won by Alinghi in the 7th race. The Cup is the most famous and most prestigious regatta and ''Match Race'' in the sport of sailing. As per the Deed of Gift of the America's Cup the yacht club that holds the Cup is the one that chooses the location for the next challenge to take place. ''Alinghi'', the syndicate representing the Société Nautique de Genève, the winners of the thirty-first edition, are based in Switzerland which is a landlocked country, so ''Alinghi'' put the hosting rights out to a competitive bid process. The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series was a match race regatta in America's Cup Class yachts in Auckland, New Zealand, during January and February 2009. Racing started on 30 January. The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series was organised in association with the New Zealand Government, Emirates Team New Zealand, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Auckland City and Skycity Entertainment Group. Bruno Troublé was Louis Vuitton's organizer and spokesperson for the Series. The creation of the event was in response to the legal battle surrounding the America's Cup yachting competition at the time. The 2024 America's Cup was the 37th staging of the America's Cup yacht race.
