Arena Tigray For Democracy and Sovereignty (), also known as Arena Tigray, is an Ethiopian political party based in the Tigray Region and participating in the Medrek coalition federally. Creation Arena Tigray was created by Gebru Asrat in the early 2000s, when he left the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front. ''Addis Fortune'' counts Arena Tigray as the second oldest political party in Tigray Region. Leadership Arena's first leader was Gebru Asrat. In 2017, at Arena's fourth congress, Abraha Desta, a philosophy lecturer who had spent two years in prison under TPLF rule, was elected as the new chair. , Amdom Gebreselassie was head of public relations for Arena Tigray. Gebru Asrat
Gebru Asrat is an Ethiopian politician, former president of Tigray Region (1991–2001), and one of the top leaders of the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) until around 2000, when he founded a new party, Arena Tigray. Early life Gebru was born in Mekelle, Ethiopia and attended ''Atse'' Yohannes High School and Haile Selassie I University during the early 1970s. He holds an undergraduate and graduate degree in economics. Career After the TPLF defeated the Derg in the Ethiopian Civil War, Gebru became President of Tigray Region. Under Gebru a number of institutions of higher education, industries, hospitals and infrastructures were established in Tigray. In May 1998, Eritrea started a border war which led to the death of tens of thousands of people on both sides.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) () is an autonomous federal government agency which supervises the national elections of Ethiopia. The NEBE was established by Proclamation number 64/1992, and answers to the House of Peoples' Representatives. Melatework Hailu has been the current chairperson of NEBE since 19 December 2023.
