Architecton
''Architecton'' is a 2024 documentary film written and directed by Viktor Kossakovsky about the ways that stone and concrete architecture express the values of societies. The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on 19 February 2024, where it was nominated for the Golden Bear and the Berlinale Documentary Film Award. It was released on 3 October 2024 in Germany by Neuer Visionen, and was released in the United States on 1 August 2025 by A24. Content Kossakovsky presents a poetic meditation on architecture and how the design and construction of buildings from the ancient past reveal our destruction – and offer hope for survival and a way forward. Viktor Kossakovsky
Viktor Kossakovsky (; born 19 July 1961) is a Russian documentary filmmaker. Early life Kossakovsky was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, at the time Leningrad, U.S.S.R. He began his film career in 1978, working as an assistant cameraman, assistant director, and editor at the Leningrad Studio of Documentaries. From 1986 to 1988, he studied screenwriting and directing at Moscow HCSF. He became a vegetarian during his childhood. Career Kossakovsky's first released feature was his 1992 documentary ''Belovy'' / ''The Belovs''. Subsequent works include his 2002 documentary ''Hush!'' / ''Tishe!'' and his 2003 documentary ''Russia from My Window'' (2003), both made from footage that Kossakovsky filmed out his bedroom window or on his street in St. Petersburg; and his well-received mediation on the natural wonder of water, '' Aquarela'' (2018), released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics. 71st Sydney Film Festival
The 71st annual Sydney Film Festival was held from 5 to 16 June 2024. The festival opened with Paul Clarke's documentary film ''Midnight Oil: The Hardest Line'', and closed with Coralie Fargeat's horror film ''The Substance''. 19th Rome Film Festival
The 19th Rome Film Festival opened on 16 October in the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome with the Italian biographical drama film ''The Great Ambition'' by Andrea Segre. Earlier the pre-opening film of the festival, ''Megalopolis'', an American epic science fiction drama directed by Francis Ford Coppola, was screened on 14 October 2024, at the Cinecittà film studios. The event was streamed live to the Auditorium Parco della Musica's Sala Petrassi. Coppola was honoured at the screening and introduced the film in the presence of his granddaughter, Gia Coppola. Lino Guanciale an Italian actor hosted the opening ceremony. Viggo Mortensen and Johnny Depp were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Awards. The 68th BFI London Film Festival was a film festival that took place from 9–20 October 2024. The competition films were announced on 29 August 2024 while the films for the galas and the strands were revealed on 4 September 2024. 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival
The 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival () took place from 28 March to 8 April 2024. Fruit Chan was selected as the Filmmaker in Focus for this edition and masterclasses led by Víctor Erice and Martin McDonagh were featured. The 74th annual Berlin International Film Festival, usually called the Berlinale, took place between 15 and 25 February 2024 in Berlin, Germany. 2024 Documentary Films
4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Evolution of the Hindu-Arabic digit Brahmic numerals represented 1, 2, and 3 with as many lines. 4 was simplified by joining its four lines into a cross that looks like the modern plus sign. The Shunga would add a horizontal line on top of the digit, and the Kshatrapa and Pallava evolved the digit to a point where the speed of writing was a secondary concern.
