Arcangelo is a retired American Champion Three-Year-Old Male Horse, Champion American three-year-old thoroughbred race horse who won the 2023 Belmont Stakes and Travers Stakes. Background Arcangelo is a gray ridgling from the second crop of 2016 Travers Stakes and Breeders' Cup Classic champion Arrogate, who was named that year's Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings, World's Best Racehorse and had a short-lived stud career before passing in 2020. On his Dam's side Arcangelo is a grandson of Tapit. The horse's owner Jon Ebbert purchased the future champion for $35,000 from Gainesway's consignment at the 2021 September Yearling Sale at Keeneland. Arrogate
Arrogate (April 11, 2013June 2, 2020) was a Thoroughbred racehorse, and was the richest horse in equine history (by earnings). He won the 2016 Travers Stakes in a record time in his first stakes appearance. He won the Breeders' Cup Classic and was named the American Champion Three-Year-Old Male Horse and World's Best Racehorse of 2016. As a four-year old, Arrogate won the 2017 Pegasus World Cup and the Dubai World Cup. Upon returning to the United States, however, Arrogate suffered three straight defeats. He retired with a record of seven wins from eleven starts. Despite having only four stakes race wins, the large purses made him the all-time leading money earner in North America. A stud animal is a registered animal retained for breeding. The terms for the male of a given animal species (stallion (horse), stallion, bull, rooster, etc.) usually imply that the animal is intact—that is, not Castration, castrated—and therefore capable of siring offspring. Javier Castellano
Javier Castellano (born October 23, 1977) is a Venezuelan jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. Castellano won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey four times in a row from 2013 to 2016. In 2023 he won two legs of the American Triple Crown–the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes–aboard different horses. Career Castellano began his riding career in 1996 at Santa Rita and La Rinconada racecourses in Venezuela.
