Arasalar River
The river Arasalar is a river that flows through Tamil Nadu and Pudducherry, and a distributary of Kaveri river which splits into 5 different rivers when it enters into Thanjavur district from Trichy. It separates from river Kaveri in the place near Pullambadi where the Kaveri is stopped by Lower Anaicut and from Thiruvaiyaru. The river is one of the seven rivers that run in the Karaikal region of Puducherry. River pollution Findings of Central Pollution Control Board had revealed that the river is polluted by high concentrations of nitrate and chromium due to mixing of sewage water into the river stream and industrial activities in 2013. Central Pollution Control Board
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India is a statutory organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Mo.E.F.C.C.). It was established in 1974 under the Water (Prevention and Control of pollution) Act, 1974. Neravy, or Neravi, is a town and commune in the Karaikal District of Puducherry, India. The village lies 145 km south of Puducherry in the Puducherry district, and is located between Karaikal and Nagapattinam. Kumbakonam (formerly spelt as Coombaconum or Combaconum), or Kudanthai, is a city municipal corporation in the Thanjavur district in the States of India, Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Lower Anaicut
The Lower Anaicut or Anaikkarai is a dam and bridge built on the Kollidam (the northern distributary of Kaveri River) in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was built in 1902 by the colonial administration of the Madras Presidency for irrigating the erstwhile South Arcot district. Stones from the ruins of Gangaikonda Cholapuram were used to construct the dam. It is situated about 70 miles below the Upper Anaicut and 25 km from Kumbakonam.
