Apriani Rahayu
Apriyani Rahayu (born 29 April 1998) is an Indonesian badminton player specializing in doubles. She and Greysia Polii won the gold medal at the Badminton at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2020 Summer Olympics champions in the Badminton at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's doubles, women's doubles. She won gold at the Badminton at the 2019 SEA Games, 2019 SEA Games, and two bronze medals at the BWF World Championships, World Championships in 2018 and 2019. Rahayu also won bronze medals at the Badminton at the 2018 Asian Games, 2018 Asian Games in the women's team and doubles with her former partner Polii. With her current partner, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Rahayu won the silver medal at the 2023 BWF World Championships, 2023 World Championships, and a gold at the Badminton at the 2021 SEA Games, 2021 SEA Games. The badminton women's team tournament at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta took place from 19 to 22 August at Istora Gelora Bung Karno. The draw for the team event was held on 16 August. China team was the reigning champion after winning the gold medal in Incheon and Japan led the seeding. Mongolia withdrew from this event. Badminton has been one of the regular Asian Games sports since 1962 in Jakarta, Indonesia. History Badminton made its debut in the Asian Games as a demonstration sport at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, Japan, and became a regular competitive sport in 1962. In the 1962 Games, six events were held, with singles, doubles and team event for both men and women. The mixed doubles event was added in 1966 Asian Games. There was a playoff between the two semifinal losers to determine the sole winner of the bronze medal in 1962; but since 1966, two bronze medals per event are awarded in each event (except in 1974).
