Antihero (album)
''Antihero'' is the debut studio album by Australian rapper Huskii, released on 11 February 2022 through Island Records Australia. The album is characterised by its boom bap production style, which was overseen by Sydney producer Tasker. Huskii will tour in support of the album from April 2022. Supported by the singles "Ruin My Life" and "Toxic", ''Antihero'' debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart. Background After four EPs released from 2017 to 2020, ''Antihero'' is Huskii's debut album. Although seven tracks and 19 minutes long, it is intended as his first studio album. Huskii said after spending two years "in and out of jail" he had little motivation to write songs, but after getting out and "liv nglife" he got back to "being motivated". He said it "made sense" to title the album ''Antihero'' because he has "related to antiheroes" and "been an outlier" his "whole life". Huskii
Ben Hayden (born 1992), known professionally as Huskii, is an Australian rapper and musician from Wollongong, New South Wales. He released his debut studio album ''Antihero'' in February 2022. Early life Hayden grew up in various homes around New South Wales and was exposed to violence, drug addiction and prostitution during his turbulent childhood, later falling victim to addiction, depression and incarceration in his teenage years. Personal life In 2022, Hayden was charged with domestic violence offenses. The details of the charges were reported by ''The Daily Telegraph''. This ruined a lot of his credibility prompting the down spiral in his mental health and career. Boom Bap
Boom bap is a subgenre and music production style that was prominent in East Coast hip hop during the golden age of hip hop from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. The term "boom bap" is an onomatopoeia that represents the sounds used for the bass (kick) drum and snare drum, respectively. The style is usually recognized by a main drum loop that uses a hard-hitting, acoustic bass drum sample on the downbeats, a snappy acoustic snare drum sample on the upbeats, and an "in your face" audio mix emphasizing the drum loop, and the kick-snare combination in particular.
