Island Records Australia is an Australian record label that was launched in 2007 by Michael Taylor (now serving as managing director, Universal Music Australia). It is part of the Universal Music Group and is the Australian variant of Island Records. Taylor describes "Island Australia (as) a home for artists who cut their own path, who start from the left, and who, in time, come into the mainstream on their own artistic terms". Island Records Australia is now headed by Nicole Richards. ''A Place We Knew'' is the debut studio album by Australian singer and songwriter Dean Lewis. The album was released on 22 March 2019. The album was announced in February 2019, with Lewis revealing that "all the songs were written through relationships I'd been in and houses I used to live in and hotel rooms". Of the album, Dean stated that "Things come and go so fast, but I wanted to make something authentic, raw", describing the title as "encapsulat(ing) the bittersweet memories of past relationships". Chloe Quayle (born 1995), known by her stage name Barkaa (stylised in all caps), is an Aboriginal Australian rapper and musician. In September 2020, ''GQ Magazine'' dubbed her "the new matriarch of Australian rap". and in 2020, Triple J listed her as one of the top 5 female rappers in Australia. Adrian Eagle, born Adrian Naidu, is an Australian singer-songwriter. He is an ARIA Award winner and also a winner of two categories in the SA Music Awards in 2019. Early life He was born in Adelaide to a Maltese mother and a Fiji-Indian father, with the surname Naidu.
