Anthony Slaughter
Anthony David Slaughter is a politician who has been the leader of the Wales Green Party since December 2018. He previously served as Deputy Leader from 2014 to 2015. In 2024 Slaughter was appointed as the President of Wales for Europe. He has previously been a candidate for general, local authority and town council seats. Slaughter regularly appears in the media on behalf of the party to discuss political issues including BBC Radio Wales and S4C. Personal life Slaughter was born in Yorkshire and stated in 2021 that he had lived in "Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan for the last 17 years". He has worked as a garden designer and landscaper. The 2021 Senedd election took place on Thursday 6 May 2021 to elect 60 members to the Senedd (Welsh Parliament; ). Welsh independence () is the political movement advocating for Wales to become a sovereign state, independent from the United Kingdom. YesCymru
YesCymru is a non party-political campaign for an independent Wales. The organisation was formed in summer 2014 and officially launched on 20 February 2016 in Cardiff. In 2022 it became a private company limited by guarantee without share capital. History Origins YesCymru was set up in the summer of 2014 by several activists including Iestyn ap Rhobert, Siôn Jobbins and Hedd Gwynfor, who were inspired by campaigners in Scotland in the lead-up to the 2014 Scottish independence referendum.
