Anne Loree is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Best known as the writer of "Insensitive (song), Insensitive", an international Top 40 hit for Jann Arden in 1995,(June 26, 1996)USA 'Insensitive' to Arden no more ''USA Today'', Retrieved December 21, 2010 ("Arden was intrigued when she first heard Insensitive sung by its composer, Anne Loree.") "Insensitive" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden, released in October 1994, by A&M Records, as the second single from her second studio album, '' Living Under June'' (1994). Written by Anne Loree and produced by Ed Cherney, the song became Arden's most successful single, reaching number one in Canada and Australia, and number 12 in the United States. Background Anne Loree would recall writing "Insensitive" in response to an unhappy tryst with a chef at a Calgary restaurant where Loree was waiting tables. Jann Arden (born Jann Arden Anne Richards; March 27, 1962) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, author and actress. She is best known for her signature ballads, " Could I Be Your Girl" and " Insensitive", which is her biggest hit to date, as well as other ballads, such as "Cherry Popsicle" and "I Would Die for You". Early life and education Jann Arden was born in Calgary and moved as a child to Springbank, Alberta, where she attended Springbank Community High School. Her father was a construction contractor and her mother was a dental assistant. She is the middle child of three children. Arden grew up in a troubled family dynamic. The Juno Awards of 1996, representing Canadian music industry achievements of the previous year, were awarded on 10 March 1996 in Hamilton, Ontario at a ceremony in the Copps Coliseum. Anne Murray was the host for the ceremonies, which were broadcast on CBC Television. Quebec-based independent classical label Analekta Records boycotted the Junos after failing to receive a Juno nomination after attempts for five years.
