Animals In Buddhism
The position and treatment of animals in Buddhism is important for the light it sheds on Buddhists' perception of their own relation to the natural world, on Buddhist humanitarian concerns in general, and on the relationship between Buddhist theory and Buddhist practice. Etymology In the Pali language, the translation is ''Tira-acchanā''. ''Tira'' means ''against'' and ''Acchanā'' means ''a being that can move''. Hence, the full meaning is a being that moves horizontally unlike the humans, Deva and Brahmā. In Buddhist doctrine Animals have always been regarded in Buddhist thought as sentient beings. Biodiversity loss happens when plant or animal species disappear completely from Earth (extinction) or when there is a decrease or disappearance of species in a specific area. ''Aggañña Sutta'' is the 27th '' sutta'' of the ''Digha Nikaya'' collection (Pāli version). The Pāḷi Canon is the standard collection of scriptures in the Theravada Buddhism, Buddhist tradition, as preserved in the Pāli language. Karmapa Controversy
There are currently two, separately enthroned 17th Karmapa, Gyalwang Karmapas: Ogyen Trinley Dorje and Trinley Thaye Dorje. The Karmapa is the spiritual leader of the nine-hundred-year-old Karma Kagyu lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.
