World Festival of Animated Film Zagreb ( hr, Svjetski festival animiranog filma), also known as Animafest Zagreb, is a film festival entirely dedicated to animated film held annually in Zagreb, Croatia. Initiated by the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA), the event was established in 1972. Priit Pärn
Priit Pärn (born 26 August 1946 in Tallinn) is an Estonian cartoonist and animation director whose films have enjoyed success among critics as well as the public at various film festivals. Pärn formerly worked as a plant ecologist; his career in animation began when he accepted Rein Raamat's proposal to make a design for ''Kilplased'' (1974). After a brief apprenticeship in Joonisfilm, he directed his first film ''Is the Earth Round?'' in 1977. Pärn's most important films are considered to be ''Triangle'' (1982), ''Breakfast on the Grass'' (1987), ''Hotel E'' (1992), ''1895'' (co-directed by Janno Põldma, 1995) and ''Night of the Carrots'' (1998). Pärn's style is characterized by black humour, playful surrealism and a unique graphic style. Joanna Lisa Quinn is an English independent film director and animator. Early life Quinn was born in Birmingham, England and grew up in North London. She went to school at Highgate Wood Secondary School and completed a foundation course in art at Goldsmiths College, University of London before studying for a BA in Graphic Design at Middlesex University. Career Quinn's first film ''Girls Night Out'' was completed in 1987 and won three awards at the Annecy Film Festival. This film introduced the anti-heroine character of Beryl and follows her antics when she goes to see a male stripper. Zagreb School Of Animated Films
Zagreb school of animated films is a style of animation originating from Zagreb and Croatia, most notably Zagreb Film. It is represented by authors like Nikola Kostelac, Vatroslav Mimica, Dušan Vukotić and Vladimir Kristl. The term was coined by Georges Sadoul. The "golden age" of Zagreb School spanned between 1957 and 1980, in three waves, each dominated by a different group of animators. is a Japanese independent animator who, after leaving a career as a background artist at an animation studio, directs, writes, edits, animates, creates the model sheets and background art for and sometimes produces his own short films and has worked on many commissions such as music videos, television advertisements, title sequences and station idents, both on his own and under or with other directors. He is also a regular illustrator of children's literature and textbooks. Michaël Dudok de Wit (; born 15 July 1953) is a Dutch animator, director and illustrator based in London. ''Father and Daughter'' is a 2000 Dutch animated short film written and directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2001. Plot A father says goodbye to his young daughter and leaves. As the wide Dutch landscapes live through their seasons so the girl lives through hers. She becomes a young woman, has a family and in time she becomes old, yet within her there is always a deep longing for her father. At the end of the film, in what appears to be a dream sequence, or perhaps the afterlife, they are reunited. On January 24, 2012, they received their second Oscar nomination, for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) animated short film, '' Wild Life'' (2011).
