Earth is an American rock music, rock band originally based in Olympia, Washington and led by the guitarist Dylan Carlson (musician), Dylan Carlson. Initially active between 1989 and 1997, their early work is characterized by heavily distortion (music), distorted guitar, Drone (music), drones, and lengthy, minimalist song structures; their 1993 debut album ''Earth 2 (album), Earth 2'' is recognized as a pioneering work of the drone metal genre. Adrienne Davies
Adrienne Davies is the current drummer and percussionist of the post-rock band Earth. Davies is credited as drummer on several of Earth's albums. They range from '' Living in the Gleam of an Unsheathed Sword'' (2005) and for drums, percussion, and wind chimes on '' Hex (Or Printing in the Infernal Method)'' (2005). She has since played on its album '' Hibernaculum'', as well as ''Altar''—the Sunn O))) and Boris collaboration—which also features other members of Earth. She was also the drummer for their most recent album, '' Full Upon Her Burning Lips'', released in 2019. Davies has stated that she was a fan of Earth before her debut. Her drumming style was heavily influenced by Dylan Carlson's pioneering drone metal sound with Michael McDaniel as the band's drummer in the 1990s. Southern Lord is an American heavy metal record label that was founded in 1998 by Greg Anderson. It initially specialized in experimental metal: particularly doom metal, stoner rock, and drone metal. The label later expanded its line-up to include artists from black metal, hardcore punk and crust punk bands.
