Earth (American Band)
Earth is an American rock music, rock band originally based in Olympia, Washington and led by the guitarist Dylan Carlson (musician), Dylan Carlson. Initially active between 1989 and 1997, their early work is characterized by heavily distortion (music), distorted guitar, Drone (music), drones, and lengthy, minimalist song structures; their 1993 debut album ''Earth 2 (album), Earth 2'' is recognized as a pioneering work of the drone metal genre. The band resurfaced in the early 2000s, with their subsequent output reducing the distortion and incorporating elements of country music, country, jazz rock, and folk music, folk. Earth's current lineup consists of Carlson and drummer Adrienne Davies. Often Bill Herzog is on bass as well as other Earth members, past present and future. Dylan Randolph Carlson (born March 12, 1968) is an American musician best known as the guitarist and founder of the drone metal/post-rock group Earth (American band), Earth, and the main contributor to his solo project Drcarlsonalbion. Early life and education Carlson was born in Seattle, Washington (state), Washington, United States. His father worked for the United States Department of Defense, Department of Defense, and as a result, moved quite frequently. Living in Philadelphia, Texas, New Mexico, and New Jersey, before coming back to live in Washington state. Career He had first become interested in being a rock musician at age 15, inspired by bands such as Molly Hatchet, AC/DC, and Black Sabbath. Sargent House is an American management company and record label based in Los Angeles. It was founded in June 2006 by Cathy Pellow, who is a music video commissioner for Atlantic Records and also owns a music video production company called Refused TV. Pellow began managing the rock outfit RX Bandits in 2006. Karl Blau is an American indie rock and country vocalist, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, previously based in Anacortes, Washington for over two decades. A member of the Knw-Yr-Own/K Records collective, he is known for his musical output, live shows, and self recording and distribution. Joe Preston (born October 1969) is an American bass guitarist and a former band member of the rock bands Earth, Melvins, Men's Recovery Project, The Need and High on Fire. Slim Moon
Matthew "Slim" Moon (born October 15, 1967) is an American musician and the founder of the American independent music label Kill Rock Stars (KRS). He also started its sister label, 5 Rue Christine. Slim ran KRS from 1991 to 2006, during which time KRS released albums by dozens of artists including Sleater-Kinney, Elliott Smith, The Decemberists, Miranda July, Bikini Kill, Unwound, Huggy Bear, The Gossip, and Linda Perry. Early life Moon graduated from high school in Seattle in 1986. Danny Goldberg has described him as one of "a group of obsessed Melvins fans" who would attend any show the band played within driving distance. Kevin Richard Martin, often known under his recording alias The Bug, is an English musician and music producer. Martin moved from Weymouth to London around 1990 and is now currently based in mainland Europe. Thrones is the solo project of American bassist Joe Preston. Biography Thrones began in 1994 with an untitled cassette on the Punk in My Vitamins? label. He soon released the "Reddleman" single. In 1996, Thrones signed to Communion Records to issue the full-length album ''Alraune''. Thrones then signed to Kill Rock Stars and released the single "The Suckling". In late 1997, Preston began a recording project under the working title "White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit".
