First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the International Cricket Council, Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. A significant omission of the ICC ruling was any attempt to define first-class cricket retrospectively. Sheldon Jackson (cricketer)
Sheldon Philip Jackson (born 27 September 1986) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Saurashtra in domestic cricket and previously appeared for Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League (IPL). He is a right-handed wicket-keeper-batter. Career After a good domestic season in 2012–13, he was signed up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in February 2013. He finished the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy season as the fifth-highest run-getter. During the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jackson hit two centuries on two consecutive days of the competition. Jackson made his debut for Saurashtra in 2011 and scored 5634 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 49.42, including 19 hundreds and 27 half-centuries. He was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team in 2017. V. P Iqlas Naha (born 11 October 1994) is an Indian cricketer who represents Puducherry in domestic cricket. He is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm fast-medium. Domestic career Iqlas was born on Malappuram, Kerala. He has represented Kerala in age-limit tournaments. He completed his graduation from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram and was part of the college's cricket team. He was one of the four Kerala cricketers among Nikhilesh Surendran, Fabid Ahmed and Abdul Safar who shifted their alliance to the newly found Puducherry cricket team ahead of the 2018-19 Indian domestic season. Santha Moorthy (born 10 September 1979) is an Indian cricketer. He made his List A debut on 10 October 2019, for Puducherry in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Vinay Kumar (born 12 February 1984) is an Indian former cricketer and cricket commentator who has represented India at Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 levels. He is a right-arm medium fast bowler who played domestic cricket for Karnataka and also in the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. He captained Karnataka to two consecutive Ranji Trophy titles in 2013–14 and 2014–15 seasons. In November 2018, he played in his 100th match in the Ranji Trophy. Konda Bhaskar Arun Karthik (born 15 February 1986 in Walajapet, Tamil Nadu) is an Indian cricketer, who currently plays for Puducherry and was a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad. Karthik is a right-hand batsman and leg-spin bowler. He was a wicket-keeper batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
