Andrés Ojeda
Andrés Ojeda Spitz (born 5 January 1984) is a Uruguayan lawyer, television personality and politician, serving as secretary general of the Colorado Party. He was the party's candidate for president in the 2024 general election in which he finished in third place. Ojeda was born in Montevideo and obtained a law degree from the University of the Republic. He specialized in criminal law, and gained wide public recognition as a criminal defense attorney and television pundit. He began his political career in 2010 and focused on Montevideo politics, as a member of the department's legislature from 2010 to 2015, and as a candidate for substitute departamental Intendant in 2020. Montevideo
Montevideo (, ; ) is the capital city, capital and List of cities in Uruguay, largest city of Uruguay. Tupamaros
The National Liberation Movement – Tupamaros (, MLN-T) was a Marxist–Leninist urban guerrilla group that operated in Uruguay during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1989, the group was admitted into the Broad Front and a large number of its members joined the Movement of Popular Participation (MPP). Formed in the early 1960s, the MLN-T sought to create a revolutionary state through armed struggle, taking inspiration from the 1953–59 Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro. Just like the majority of Cuban revolutionaries, the Tupamaros operated in primarily urban areas. The organization gained notoriety for its violent acts of sabotage, bank and armory robberies, assassinations of military and police officers, bombings, and kidnappings of judges, businessmen, diplomats and politicians. 2020 Uruguayan Municipal Elections
Uruguay held departmental and local government elections on September 27, 2020, to elect the ''intendente'' of the 19 Departments of Uruguay, departments that are the administrative divisions of Uruguay, as well as 31 councilors; and a mayor and four councilors for each of the municipalities. Ernesto Talvi Pérez (born June 10, 1957 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan economist. He served as Minister of Foreign Relations of Uruguay from 1 March to 6 July 2020. 2009 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on 25 October 2009 alongside a 2009 Uruguayan referendum, two-part referendum. As no candidate for president received more than 50% of the vote, a second round was held on 29 November between the top two candidates, José Mujica of the ruling Broad Front (Uruguay), Broad Front (who received 48% of the vote) and former president Luis Alberto Lacalle of the National Party (Uruguay), National Party (29%).
