Ernesto Talvi
Ernesto Talvi Pérez (born June 10, 1957 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan economist. He served as Minister of Foreign Relations of Uruguay from 1 March to 6 July 2020. Early life Born to a Macedonian-born father and a Cuban mother, both of Sephardic (Turkish-Jewish) descent, Talvi attended The British Schools of Montevideo, afterwards he graduated from the University of the Republic and the University of Chicago. Career In 1990 he was appointed by Ramón Díaz, chairman of the Central Bank of Uruguay, to lead Economic Policy. From 1990 until 1995, inflation came down from 95.41% to 44.25%. He presided over the thinktank CERES since 1997 until 2018, when he left to pursue a political career. The Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRREE; es, Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores) is the ministry of the Government of Uruguay that is responsible for planning, directing and executing the foreign policy and international relations of the Republic. It is also responsible for maintaining and strengthening the country's relations with the different countries of the world, as well as the proper functioning of Uruguayan embassies and consulates in countries where there is representation, and also the missions and state services abroad. Julio María Sanguinetti Coirolo (; born 6 January 1936 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan politician, lawyer and journalist, who twice served as President of Uruguay (from March 1985 until March 1990, and again, from March 1995 until March 2000) for the Partido Colorado. A lawyer and journalist by profession, he was born into a middle-class family of Italian origin from Genoa. He studied Law and Social Sciences at the University of the Republic. He received his law degree in 1961, and later combined his legal practice with work as a journalist. He had already been writing for the press, first in the weekly ''Canelones'' and later, since 1955, as a columnist for ''Acción'', a newspaper established by the then-President, Luis Batlle, for which he covered events such as the Cuban Revolution (1959) and carried on until the 1970s. Daniel Carlos Martínez Villamil (born 23 February 1957) is a Uruguayan industrial engineer and politician of the Socialist Party – Broad Front. Background Daniel Martínez pursued a mechanical engineering career prior to taking up a ministerial post. For many years he was Vice President of the Uruguayan Engineers' Association.
