Andrews is a former suburb of the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. History Andrews was created as a suburb in 1981 and named after a family who owned a large amount of the land in the area. In 2002, Andrews was merged with Stephens, Queensland, Stephens and a portion of Robina, Queensland, Robina, to form the new suburb of Varsity Lakes and the West Burleigh part of Burleigh Heads. Andrews is no longer an official placename. Suburbs Of The Gold Coast
There are eighty-one suburbs and localities in the City of Gold Coast, a local government area in Queensland, Australia. The local government area has been amended several times since its creation in 1948, most dramatically by its amalgamation in 1994 with the Shire of Albert, and losing a section centred on Beenleigh north of the Albert River to Logan City in March 2008. Fifty-two are gazetted as suburbs and twenty-nine as localities. Many suburbs have been established on reclaimed land including saltmarshes, mangroves and tidal flats. Some of these suburbs have developed extensive canal waterways. There are many shopping centres on the Gold Coast. Stephens is a former suburb of the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. History Stephens was named after the Stephens Swamp, an area of wetlands between Reedy Creek and Burleigh Heads. The swamp, in turn, was named after Thomas Blacket Stephens who purchased 6980 acres of hinterland in 1873 to drain it into Little Tallebudgera Creek to create land for dairy farming. In the 1980s, Stephens began to develop a suburban character. Bond University was established in Stephens in 1987 when the Parliament of Queensland granted it university status via the passage of the Bond University Act. Palm Beach is a coastal suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the , Palm Beach had a population of 16,349 people. Geography Palm Beach is bounded to the north by Tallebudgera Creek, to the east by the Coral Sea, to the south by Currumbin Creek, and to the west by the Pacific Motorway. Palm Beach has thrice been voted cleanest beach in Queensland. Certainly subdivided by the mid-1950s the subdivision is unusual in the way in which it straddles both sides of the highway. Reedy Creek is a suburb in the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the , Reedy Creek had a population of 7,412 people. Geography Located in the hinterland towards the southern end of the city, Reedy Creek is a developing residential area. The elevation rises from above sea level in the north of the suburb to over in the south of the suburb at the end of Abbey Ridge Road. Reedy Creek rises in the south of the suburb and flows through it, exiting it to the north-east under the M1 into Varsity Lakes.
