Andrew Witer
Andrew Witer (born November 23, 1946) is a Canadian politician. He served in the House of Commons of Canada from 1984 to 1988, as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Background Witer was born to a Ukrainian family in Leonberg, Germany. He came to Canada in his youth. He was educated at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University and worked as a management consultant. Politics He first campaigned for the House of Commons in the 1980 federal election, and lost to Liberal incumbent Jesse Flis by 5,097 votes in Parkdale—High Park. He ran again in the 1984 election, and defeated Flis by 1,460 votes amid a landslide majority government victory for the Conservatives under Brian Mulroney. Parkdale—High Park (federal Electoral District)
Parkdale—High Park was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada from 1976 to 2025. It was represented in the House of Commons of Canada starting with the 1979 Canadian general election. The district was created during the 1976 electoral boundaries redistribution from parts of Parkdale, High Park—Humber Valley, Davenport and Spadina districts. The first Member of Parliament (MP) was Liberal Party member, Jesse Flis, and the final one was Arif Virani, also a Liberal member. According to the 2016 census, Parkdale—High Park has the lowest percentage of visible minorities (26.2%) among all City of Toronto ridings; it also has the highest percentage of people of Irish (20.0%), German (9.8%), and French (8.9%) ethnic origin of all City of Toronto ridings. Alex Kindy
Alex Kindy, M.D. (January 8, 1930 – May 6, 2011) was a Canadian politician. Kindy was born in Warsaw, Poland. His first attempt at entering federal politics was in the 1962 federal election when he ran as an "Independent Liberal" in the Quebec riding of Maisonneuve—Rosemont. He placed last out of five candidates (including the official Liberal candidate) and won 942 votes. Kindy subsequently joined the Progressive Conservative party and attempted to win a seat from the Quebec riding of Sherbrooke running as "Alexandre Kindy" in the 1968, 1972 and 1974 elections, placing third on each attempt behind the Liberal and Social Credit candidates. He subsequently moved to Alberta where he won the Tory nomination for Calgary East in the 1984 federal election and was elected to the House of Commons of Canada. David Raymond Miller (born December 26, 1958) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician who served as the List of mayors of Toronto, 63rd mayor of Toronto from 2003 to 2010.
