Bartlett High School (Alaska)
Bartlett High School is a high school in Anchorage, Alaska. It had an enrollment of 1,416 as of the 2023-2024 school year. Construction started in 1971, and the first classes were held in 1973. The school originally housed both Bartlett High School, named after U.S. Senator Bob Bartlett, and Begich Junior High School, named after U.S. Representative Nick Begich. Bartlett is part of the Anchorage School District and is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. The Alaska State School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AKSD, previously abbreviated as ASSDHH) is a public school located in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. Its affiliated schools are Russian Jack Elementary School, Orah Dee Clark Middle School, and Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School. History In 1972, the Alaska Department of Education, in collaboration with the Anchorage School District, established and funded the Alaska State Program for the Deaf (ASPD). In 1975, elementary school classes for ASSDHH began. In 1987, the school's name was changed to Alaska State School for the Deaf. Middle school and high school locations were added in 1992. Steller Secondary School
Steller Secondary School is an alternative school located in Anchorage, Alaska. Steller Secondary was previously a seventh through twelfth grade school, but starting in August of 2024, the Anchorage School District conjoined sixth grade with middle school, therefore having Steller Secondary adopt sixth grade into the grade range of students attending. The Anchorage School District established the school in 1974 as a response to a proposal by the Committee of Alternative Secondary Education. Steller was named after Georg Wilhelm Steller, a naturalist from Germany who traveled with Vitus Bering on an exploratory voyage to Alaska. Service High School
Robert Service High School is a public high school in Anchorage, Alaska. It had an enrollment of 1,779 students as of August 2, 2016. Serving grades 9 through 12, the school was named for the poet Robert W. Service. Part of the Anchorage School District, the school opened in 1971 and was the last of four high schools built by the district (its lineal predecessor, the Anchorage Independent School District) within a decade. Service High originally operated as Service-Hanshew; as was the case common within Anchorage during that time, junior and senior high schools shared a single building.
