Service High School
Robert Service High School is a public high school in Anchorage, Alaska. It had an enrollment of 1,779 students as of August 2, 2016. Serving grades 9 through 12, the school was named for the poet Robert W. Service. Part of the Anchorage School District, the school opened in 1971 and was the last of four high schools built by the district (its lineal predecessor, the Anchorage Independent School District) within a decade. Service High originally operated as Service-Hanshew; as was the case common within Anchorage during that time, junior and senior high schools shared a single building. Included in the case with other junior-senior high schools in Anchorage, a separate structure was built to educate the junior student body and referred as Hanshew Middle School in the period of the 1980s oil glut. Tommy Beaudreau
Tommy P. Beaudreau is an American attorney who has served as the deputy secretary of the Interior since 2021. He served as the first director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management from 2011 to 2014 and as chief of staff of the United States Department of the Interior from 2014 until the end of the Obama administration. Juneau Empire
The ''Juneau Empire'' is a newspaper in Juneau, Alaska, United States. It was founded on November 2, 1912, as the ''Alaska Daily Empire''. In 1969 Morris Communications bought the newspaper. Mark Bryan was appointed publisher in 2009, but left the paper in 2013. In June of that year, Rustan Burton was named the new publisher and continues to run the paper today. Eagle River is a community within the Municipality of Anchorage situated on the Eagle River, for which it is named, between Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and Chugach State Park in the Chugach Mountains. Anna MacKinnon (formerly Fairclough; born November 11, 1957) is an American Republican Party (United States), Republican politician who is formerly a member of the Alaska Senate, representing District G from 2013 to 2018. Brandon Grae Dubinsky (born April 29, 1986) is an American former professional ice hockey player. Matthew Burtner (born 1970, Naknek, Alaska) is a contemporary American composer. His most recent work at the University of Virginia includes MICE, the mobile interactive computer ensemble. Life and music Born into a fishing family, Burtner heard music in the ice and snow melting as well as other nature sounds. Once into grade school, he began learning the saxophone, playing in jazz bands, school bands and performance groups throughout his young years. In college, he studied philosophy, composition, saxophone and computer music at St. Johns College, Tulane University (BFA 1993), Iannis Xenakis's UPIC Studios, the Peabody Institute of JHU (MM 1997), and Stanford University's CCRMA (DMA 2002).
