Ana Elisa Osorio
Ana Elisa Osorio is a Venezuelan politician who worked in the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Hugo Chávez administration. She is now a critic of Nicolás Maduro. Career Osorio graduated from Central University of Venezuela, having studied medicine, with a PhD in epidemiology and a Master's degree in planning for development (Business studies). She founded the Institute for Public Health in Bolívar state, where she also served as Director of Health. Between 1999 and 2000 she was the Vice President of Health, and between 2000 and 2005 she was the Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources. After 2005 she was part of the corporate management of Environment and Occupational Hygiene for PDVSA, where she stayed until 2008. Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías (; ; 28 July 1954 – 5 March 2013) was a Venezuelan politician, Bolivarian Revolution, revolutionary, and Officer (armed forces), military officer who served as the 52nd president of Venezuela from 1999 until Death of Hugo Chávez, his death in 2013, except for 2002 Venezuelan coup d'état attempt, a brief period of forty-seven hours in 2002. Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (acronym PDVSA, , English language, English: Petroleum of Venezuela) is the Venezuelan state-owned oil and natural gas company. The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (, PSUV, ) is a socialist political party which has been the ruling party of Venezuela since 2007. It was formed from a merger of some of the political and social forces that support the Bolivarian Revolution led by President Hugo Chávez. At the 2015 parliamentary election, PSUV lost its majority in the National Assembly for the first time since the unicameral legislature's creation in 2000 against the Democratic Unity Roundtable, winning 55 out of the National Assembly's 167 seats. Amazonas State (Venezuela)
Amazonas State (, ) is one of the 23 states into which Venezuela is divided. It covers nearly a fifth of the area of Venezuela, but has less than 1% of Venezuela's population. The state capital is Puerto Ayacucho. The capital until the early 1900s was San Fernando de Atabapo. Although named after the Amazon River, most of the state is drained by the Orinoco River. Amazonas State covers 176,899 km2 and, in 2007, had a population of 142,200. Its density is 0.8 inhabitants per km2. The Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (''Parlatino'') is a regional, permanent organisation bringing together parliamentarians from Latin America and the Caribbean.
