Amoeba (song)
"Amoeba" is a song by American punk rock band the Adolescents. It is the eighth track on their self-titled debut album ''Adolescents'', released in April 1981 on Frontier Records. It is the band's signature song. An earlier version of the song was recorded in 1980 for inclusion on KROQ-FM disc jockey Rodney Bingenheimer's ''Rodney on the ROQ'' compilation album, released by Posh Boy Records in November 1980. This version became a hit on KROQ and led to the band's signing to Frontier Records in January 1981. Posh Boy owner Robbie Fields presented the band with gold singles for the track at a show at the Starwood in West Hollywood in early 1981, and the label later released this version of the song as a single in 1990. Background "Amoeba" was one of several Adolescents songs that were written by rhythm guitarist Rikk Agnew and drummer Casey Royer for their prior group, the Detours. Adolescents (band)
The Adolescents are an American punk rock band formed in Fullerton, California in 1979. Part of the hardcore punk movement in southern California in the early 1980s, they were one of the main punk acts to emerge from Orange County, along with their peers in Agent Orange and Social Distortion. Founding bassist Steve Soto was the sole constant member of the band since its inception until his 2018 death, with singer Tony Reflex being in the group for all but one album. During the 1980s the band went through several lineup changes, breakups, and reunions, most involving drummer Casey Royer and guitarist brothers Rikk, Frank, and Alfie Agnew. The Starwood was a popular nightclub and music venue in West Hollywood, California from early 1973 to 1981.Epting, Chris (2007). Travis Landon Barker (born November 14, 1975) is an American musician, songwriter, and music producer who is the drummer for the rock band Blink-182. Mark Hoppus
Mark Allan Hoppus (born March 15, 1972) is an American musician and record producer. He is the co-lead vocalist, co-founder, and bassist for the rock band Blink-182 and the only member to appear on every album. Hoppus became interested in skateboarding and punk rock in junior high, and received a bass guitar from his father at the age of 15. After he moved to San Diego in 1992 to attend California State University San Marcos, his sister introduced him to Tom DeLonge, and they formed the band Blink-182 with drummer Scott Raynor. Michael James Ness (born April 3, 1962) is an American musician who is the lead guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter for the punk rock band Social Distortion, which was formed in 1978. He has also released two solo albums, '' Cheating at Solitaire'' and '' Under the Influences'' (both 1999). Early life Ness was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on April 3, 1962.
