Amman United RFC
Amman United Rugby Football Club () is a Wales, Welsh rugby union team from River Amman, the Amman valley north of Swansea. The club plays at Cwmamman Recreation Ground between Garnant and Glanamman; before the coal-mining boom the two towns were a single village called Cwmamman. The club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Scarlets Introduction of regional rugby union teams in Wales, regional team. Amman United has supplied several players to the Wales national rugby union team, Wales rugby union team including Claude Davey and Tom Day (rugby player), Tom Day and in Trefor Evans, Trevor Evans and Shane Williams, members of the British and Irish Lions. Amman United came second in the WRU Division Four West and were promoted in 2012; by the end of the year they were leading WRU Division Three West. Trefor Pryce Evans (born 26 November 1947, in Chorley) is a former Wales national rugby union team, Wales international rugby union player. He played as a flanker. Evans played club rugby for Pantyffynon Youth RFC Amman United RFC and Swansea RFC. He had 10 caps for Wales national rugby union team, Wales, from 1975 to 1977, scoring 2 tries, 8 points on aggregate. He played three times at the Five Nations Championship, in 1975, 1976 and 1977, scoring then all the points of his international career. Iwan Davies
An iwan (, , also as ''ivan'' or ''ivān''/''īvān'', , ) is a rectangular hall or space, usually vaulted, walled on three sides, with one end entirely open. Joel Foster
Joel Foster (December 15, 1814August 9, 1885) was an American pioneer farmer, judge and local politician in River Falls, Wisconsin. Background Foster was born the youngest of eleven at Meriden, Connecticut, December 15, 1814. He was liberally educated. He came to Alton, Illinois, in 1830 where he became the ferry master. In 1848 he traveled to what would become Hudson, Wisconsin, then only a few structures at the mouth of the Willow River. After a careful exploration of the surrounding area he settled in the fall of 1848, at the junction of the two branches of the Kinnickinnic River, just upstream from its falls. His first winter was spent in a walled-in overhang cave below the falls of the river with "Dick" an orphan who had been indentured to the family. Edward H. Ward ( – May 1988) was a Welsh rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, and coached rugby league in the 1950s. Joe Rees (rugby Union, Born 1893)
Joseph Rees (3 June 1893 – 12 April 1950) was a Welsh international rugby union full-back who played club rugby for Swansea. Rees made his debut for Swansea in 1919 and captained his club in the 1922/23 season. Rees would play 12 times for Wales, and captained them on one occasion. His brother, William "Billo" Rees, was a rugby league footballer who played for Wales and the Great Britain team, and toured Australia. Carwyn James
Carwyn Rees James (2 November 1929 – 10 January 1983) was a Welsh rugby union player and coach. He won two Wales national rugby union team, Welsh international caps but is most famous for his coaching achievements with Llanelli RFC, Llanelli, the 1971 British and Irish Lions, British Lions and the Barbarians F.C., Barbarians, with all of whom he beat the All Blacks. Early life and education James was born in 1929, the son of a coalminer, in Cefneithin in the Gwendraeth Valley. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 12 clubs in the WRU Division Three West. During the course of a season (which lasts from September to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents for a total of 22 games for each club, with a total of 132 games in each season.
