Amersham Arms
The Amersham Arms is a pub and music venue located at 388 New Cross Road, in the New Cross area of the London Borough of Lewisham in south-east London. History A pub of that name has been present on New Cross Road since at least the 1850s, and from the 1920s to the 1940s was known as the Amersham Hotel. On 23 October 1954 it was the venue for the first big meeting of the local ''Anglo Caribbean Association and Club'', a group set up by Windrush era West Indian migrants to provide practical support and social activities, as well as organise against racism. By the 1960s the pub was a venue for jazz concerts. Suede performed an early concert at the pub on 12 February 1992, with Brett Anderson remembering only one person in attendance. Menswear and Bush performed there on separate occasions in 1994. Lewisham
Lewisham () is an area of southeast London, England, south of Charing Cross. It is the principal area of the London Borough of Lewisham, and was within the historic county of Kent until 1889. It is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London, with a large shopping centre and street market. Lewisham was a small village until the development of passenger railways in the 19th century. Lewisham had a population of 60,573 in 2011. Marty Friedman
Marty Friedman (born December 8, 1962) is an American guitarist, best known for his tenure as the lead guitarist for thrash metal band Megadeth from 1990 to 2000. He is also known for playing alongside Jason Becker in Cacophony from 1986 until 1989, as well as his 13 solo albums and tours. Grime is a genre of electronic music that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of the earlier UK dance style UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. THE XX
The xx are an English indie rock band from Wandsworth, London, formed in 2005. The band consists of Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass guitar, vocals), Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx (beats, MPC, record production), and formerly Baria Qureshi (keyboard, guitar). They are known for their distinct and minimalist sound that blends indie rock, indie electronic, indie pop, dream pop and electro-rock and the dual vocalist setup of both Croft and Sim. Jonathan Michael Richman (born May 16, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. In 1970, he founded the Modern Lovers, an influential proto-punk band. Since the mid-1970s, Richman has worked either solo or with low-key acoustic and electric backing. He now plays only acoustic to protect his hearing. Wilko Johnson
John Andrew Wilkinson (12 July 1947 – 21 November 2022), better known by the stage name Wilko Johnson, was an English guitarist, singer, songwriter and occasional actor. He was a member of the Pub rock (United Kingdom), pub rock/rhythm and blues band Dr. Feelgood (band), Dr. Feelgood in the 1970s. Johnson was known for his distinctive guitar playing style which he achieved by not using a guitar pick but playing fingerstyle guitar, fingerstyle. This enabled him to play rhythm guitar and riffs or solos at the same time creating a highly percussive guitar sound. Chas & Dave (often billed as Chas 'n' Dave) were a British pop rock duo, formed in London by Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock. Hodges died in 2018. Spearmint are a London-based indie pop band, founded in 1995 by Shirley Lee. The group has received coverage in the ''NME'', '' Time Out'', ''Melody Maker'' and ''Uncut'' magazines.
