Marty Friedman
(born December 8, 1962) is an American guitarist, best known for his tenure as the lead guitarist of thrash metal band Megadeth from 1990 to 2000. He is also known for playing alongside Jason Becker in Cacophony from 1986 until 1989, as well as his 13 solo albums and tours. Friedman has resided in Tokyo since 2003, where he has appeared on over 700 Japanese television programs such as '' Rock Fujiyama'', ''Hebimeta-san'', ''Kōhaku Uta Gassen'' and ''Jukebox English''. He has released albums with several record labels, including Avex Trax, Universal, EMI, Prosthetic, and Shrapnel Records. Early career (1982–1989) Friedman took up the guitar at the age of 14 after attending a KISS concert, and is largely self-taught. He rushed to form a band and started playing original songs, the reason being that originals are easier to play than covers. The Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance is an award presented at the Grammy Awards to recording artists for works (songs or albums) containing quality performances in the heavy metal music genre. ''Rust in Peace'' is the fourth studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth, released on September 24, 1990, by Capitol Records. It was the first Megadeth album to feature guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza. The songs " Hangar 18" and " Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" were released as singles. A remixed and remastered version of the album featuring four bonus tracks was released in 2004. Presented as an anthology of the band's first 20 years, the two-disc DVD set contains music videos, live performances, interviews, home videos, and special appearances. As a result of licensing issues, videos from soundtrack and non-Capitol albums are not featured, save for " No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Go to Hell" as well as despite being on ''Risk'', " Crush 'Em" and " Breadline" were not included (though the former along with its accompanying album was also a soundtrack song it is unknown whether its exclusion was a result of the same reason as the other excluded soundtrack videos while reasons for the latter not being featured have never been disclosed). ''Dragon's Kiss'' is the first studio album by the American heavy metal guitarist Marty Friedman, released on August 8, 1988, through Shrapnel Records (United States) and Roadrunner Records (Europe). The album was reissued on CD in 1991. Critical reception In a contemporary review, Holger Stratmann of '' Rock Hard'' did not recommend the album, but considered it as "quite good" in mixing "speed and folkloric influences from his old days in Hawaii" with "the typical and probably indispensable nature of the Shrapnel horde." Andy Hinds of AllMusic considered ''Dragon's Kiss'' an excellent album, and wrote that it "may be the most definitive sampling of Friedman's talents available." Shout (band)
Shout was an American rock band formed in 1987 by Ken Tamplin. Musically, the band was similar to Journey and Styx, with the ''Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music'' describing them as "more competent than Stryper". ''Cornerstone'' magazine wrote that Shout was more straightforward than other Christian metal bands such as Bloodgood. The band garnered a Dove Award after their breakup in 1989. History Their first album, ''It Won't Be Long'', was recorded by session musicians. These included Lanny Cordola ( Magdalen), Marty Friedman (Megadeth), Michael Angelo (Nitro), Joseph Galletta, Loren Robinson, Dennis Holt ( AD), and others.
