Amalia Ghigoarță
Amalia Alexandra Ghigoarță (born 28 January 2007) is a Romanian artistic gymnast. She represented Romania at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She is the 2022 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2022 Junior European Championships team and all-around silver medalist. Junior gymnastics career Ghigoarță began gymnastics when she was seven years old. Espoir Ghigoarță made her international debut at the 2019 Elek Matolay Memorial and placed fourth all-around in the espoir division. At the 2019 Petrom Cup, a domestic competition, she placed fifth all-around. She then finished second in the all-around behind Amalia Puflea at the 2019 Romanian Junior Championships in the youth age group. 2020–21 Ghigoarță's only competition of 2020 was the Romanian Championships in November. Gymnastics Uneven Bars
The uneven bars or asymmetric bars is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. It is made of a steel frame. The bars are made of fiberglass with wood coating, or less commonly wood. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is UB or AB, and the apparatus and event are often referred to simply as "bars". The bars are placed at different heights and widths, allowing the gymnast to transition from bar to bar. A gymnast usually adds white chalk to the hands so that they can grip the bar better. The vault is an artistic gymnastics maneuver typically performed on a pommel horse or a vaulting table. Both male and female gymnasts perform the vault. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is VT. The apparatus German Friedrich Ludwig Jahn popularized the vault's early forms. The apparatus itself originated as a "horse", much like the pommel horse but without the handles; it was sometimes known as the vaulting horse. Gymnastics At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification
This article describes the qualifying phase for gymnastics at the 2024 Summer Olympics. A total of 318 gymnasts (192 in artistic, 94 in rhythmic and 32 in trampoline) will qualify. The qualification pathway for the 2024 Summer Olympics is significantly simplified and modified from those in 2020. In the artistic team event, a maximum of five gymnasts will be eligible to participate as opposed to the four per team and two individuals who competed in 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo 2020. Three teams who finish on the podium qualify for the Olympics through the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool with a large proportion of quota places distributed at the same meet in Antwerp, Belgium by the following year. Lilia Cosman
Lilia Cosman (born August 6, 2007) is a Romanian-American artistic gymnast. She joined the Romania women's national artistic gymnastics team in 2022, becoming the national champion on the uneven bars. She represented Romania at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Early life Cosman was born on August 6, 2007 in Lansing, Michigan, as a dual citizen of the United States and Romania. Her parents were both born in Romania and immigrated to the United States in 2001. She began gymnastics at the age of four because her older sister was also a gymnast. 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Antwerp, Belgium at the Sportpaleis, from 30 September to 8 October 2023. Antwerp hosted the event for the third time; previously the city hosted the first ever World Championships in 1903 and again in 2013. The championships was a qualification event for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The top nine teams in both the men's and women's team qualifications (not including teams that qualified at the previous year's World Championships) obtained five quota places for Paris as a team. Additionally, numerous individuals qualified with a nominative berth for the Olympic Games.
