Alip Pandoyo
Alip Pandoyo (13 July 1937 – 11 September 2013) was an Indonesian army officer and politician who served as the chairman of Golkar in Central Java and the speaker of Central Java Regional People's Representative Council from 1997 until 1999. Before his involvement in politics, Pandoyo served in the army, with his last military office being the chief of staff of the Sulawesi regional military command. Early life and education Alip was born on 13 July 1937 in Klaten. He attended the 3rd Yogyakarta State High School and entered the National Military Academy after finishing high school. He graduated from the academy in 1962 with the rank of second lieutenant. Military career Alip began his military career as a platoon commander in the 712th Infantry Battalion in Manado. Soeparto Tjitrodihardjo
Soeparto Tjitrodihardjo (31 July 192921 January 2023) was an Indonesian politician and bureaucrat. He was the Vice Governor of Central Java for development from 1985 until 1990 and the Speaker of Central Java Regional People's Representative Council from 1992 until 1997. He is commonly known as Pak Parto. Early life and education Soeparto was born in Gunung Pati, Semarang on 31 July 1929 as the oldest child of Tjitrodihardjo and Sumini. His father, Tjitrodihardjo, worked as a teacher and headmaster. Soeparto's younger brother, Sutiyoso, later became the governor of Jakarta and the Director of State Intelligence Agency. He completed his basic education at a people's school (equivalent to elementary school) in Ungaran in 1945. Tanjung Priok Massacre
The Tanjung Priok massacre was an incident that occurred in the port area of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Indonesia in 1984. Government reports give a total of 24 killed and 54 injured, while survivors report over 100 killed. Background On 10 September 1984, Sergeant Hermanu, a member of the Community Advisory Non-Commissioned Officer () arrived at As Saadah Mosque in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, and told the caretaker, Amir Biki, to remove brochures and banners critical of the government. Harmoko
Harmoko (7 February 1939 – 4 July 2021), colloquially referred to as Bung Harmoko, was an Indonesian politician and journalist who was active during the New Order era. He served as the Speaker of the People's Representative Council from 1997 until 1999, and was a factor in president Suharto's resignation during the widespread student demonstrations which occurred at the end of the New Order. Born from humble origins in East Java, on 7 February 1939, Harmoko graduated from journalistic school, and became a journalist. He was active during the Guided Democracy and New Order regimes, working in a number of different newspapers, including ''Merdeka'', ''Merdiko'', and ''Harian Mimbar Kita''. In 1970, he founded his own newspaper, the '' Pos Kota'' (City Post). Suharto resigned as President of Indonesia on 21 May 1998 following the collapse of support for his 32-year long presidency. Vice President B. J. Habibie took over the presidency.
