Alexis Kougias
Alexios Kougias (; 23 January 1951 – 28 February 2025) was a Greek lawyer, Penology, penologist. Early life Kougias was born in Petroupolis on 23 January 1951. He studied law at the University of Thessaloniki and at the University of Athens, from where he graduated. Law career Kougias first generated publicity in 1978, as an advocate of notorious criminal Vangelis Rochamis. He also practiced criminal law in known cases, including "the trial of Satanists", the trial of Argyris Saliarelis, the trial MS Express Samina, Express Samina disaster, the trial of the terrorist organizations and Revolutionary People's Struggle, ELA and Revolutionary Organization 17 November, 17 November Group. In December 2008 he took over the defense of the policeman who 2008 Greek riots, fatally shot 15 year old Alexis Grigoropoulos. Petroupoli
Petroupoli (, meaning "city of stone") is a semi-mountainous town in Attica, in the west suburbs of Athens. Petroupoli was part of the community of Nea Liosia until 1946, when it became a separate community. It was elevated to municipality status in 1972. Revolutionary Organization 17 November (, ''Epanastatiki Organosi dekaefta Noemvri''), also known as 17N or the 17 November Group, was a Greek Marxist–Leninist urban guerrilla organization. Formed in 1975 and led by Alexandros Giotopoulos, 17N conducted an extensive urban guerrilla campaign of left-wing violence against the Greek state, banks, and businesses. The organization committed 103 known armed robberies, assassinations, and bombing attacks, during which 23 people were killed. The organization is known for targeting American, British and other foreign diplomats and military personnel, particularly in retribution against the United States for its support of the coup d'état and the dictatorship known as the Regime of the Colonels.
