Alexander Morten
Alexander Morten (some sources say "Alec Morten") (15 November 1831 – 24 February 1900) was a footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He captained the England team in its second official international, played against Scotland on 8 March 1873. He had previously played for the Scotland team in 1870 at representative level, before switching to England three years later. Date of birth and personal life Morten was born in Paddington, Middlesex on 15 November 1831. He married Flora Hedger (1833–1900) at St Peter's Church, Petersham, on 17 March 1855. They had six children, although two died in infancy. Morten was a stockbroker on the London Stock Exchange. Club career Morten played for the N.N. William Maynard (footballer)
William John Maynard (18 March 1853 – 2 September 1921) was an English footballer who played for England, firstly as a forward and later in goal, in the first international match against Scotland. Career Maynard was born in London and joined the 1st Surrey Rifles F.C. based in Flodden Road, Camberwell. He was selected to play as a forward for England's first ever international match against Scotland on 30 November 1872 but at some point in the game he switched places with Robert Barker in goal and, like Barker, kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw. At 19 years, 157 days Maynard was the youngest player in the England line-up. His second and last international appearance came on 4 March 1876 when he played on the left wing in a 3–0 defeat by Scotland. In 1877 he represented Surrey and later spent a year with the Wanderers. Robert Barker (footballer)
Robert Barker (19 June 1847 – 11 November 1915) was an English footballer who played for England, first in goal and later as a forward, in the first international match against Scotland. Career Barker was born in Wouldham, Kent and was educated at Marlborough College where he played both rugby and association football. After leaving school he joined Hertfordshire Rangers to concentrate on "soccer". He represented both Middlesex and Kent during his career, as well as making occasional appearances for Westminster School and Wanderers.
