Alex Collins (politician)
G.H. Alex Collins (August 28, 1876 – May 1949) was a photographer, soldier, and political figure in Ontario, Canada. George Hamilton Alexander Collins. He was mayor of Eastview in 1921 and from 1928 to 1930. Collins was born in Ottawa, the son of Peter Collins and Sarah Henry, and was educated there. He entered the Canadian Army before the end of the 19th century, becoming sergeant-major in 1913. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons and the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles and served in the Second Boer War and World War I. Collins married Jennie Gordon. He was elected to the first municipal council for Eastview in 1913. Collins ran unsuccessfully for the position of mayor in 1915. He served as acting mayor in 1921 following the death of Camille Gladu but was unsuccessful when he ran for that post in the election held the following year. Alex Collins (born August 26, 1994) is an American football running back for the Memphis Showboats of the United States Football League (USFL). He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round, 171st overall, of the 2016 NFL Draft. Collins spent two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens in 2017 and 2018 before getting re-signed by Seattle in 2020. He played college football at Arkansas. Early years Collins attended South Plantation High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was a letterman in football, basketball, lacrosse, and track. He was coached by Doug Gatewood. He was named Broward County Player of the Year as a junior after rushing for 1,786 yards and 28 touchdowns as the Paladins earned seven victories and qualified for the state playoffs. ''Tribe'' is an American comic book published first in 1993. Created by Todd Johnson and Larry Stroman, ''Tribe'' launched as part of Image Comics' second round of titles. Tribe issue one with over one million copies sold stands as the best selling African American comic from African American creators of all time. Limited edition ivory copies of book one at the height of the series popularity sold for as much as $200.00. Axis Comics later printed two more issues (2, 3) of the series before itself going under due to financial difficulties. The final issue (0) was published by Good Comics.
