Albert Karubuy
Albert Bernardus Karubuy (born 5 January 1915) was a pro-integration activist from Papua and one of the three members that represented the Western New Guinea, West Irian province in the People's Representative Council after the 1955 Indonesian legislative election, 1955 elections. He was the political adviser of the Indonesian delegation during the 12th United Nations General Sessions in 1957. Early life Karubuy was born in Miei-Wandamen, Manokwari, on 5 January 1915. He went to the Zending People's School, a mission school established by the Dutch missionaries in Papua. After passing from the school, he migrated to Surabaya, and studied in the Centrale Burgerlijke Ziekenhuis () of Surabaya. He graduated in 1929. Career After graduating, he was ordered by Soetomo to return to Papua. He went to Hollandia (now Jayapura) and worked at a settlement hospital in 1933. People's Representative Council
The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (, DPR-RI or simply DPR) is one of two elected chambers of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the national legislature of Indonesia. It is considered the lower house, while the Regional Representative Council (DPD) serves as the upper house; while the Indonesian constitution does not explicitly mention the divide, the DPR enjoys more power, privilege, and prestige compared to the DPD. Raymond Westerling
Raymond Pierre Paul Westerling (31 August 1919 – 26 November 1987) was a Dutch military officer of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army. He orchestrated a counter-guerrilla operation in Sulawesi during the Indonesian National Revolution after World War II and participated in a coup attempt against the Government of Indonesia in January 1950, a month after the official transfer of sovereignty. Both actions were denounced as war crimes by the Indonesian authorities. Born in the Ottoman Empire, despite his nickname, The Turk, Westerling was of mixed Dutch and Greek descent. The New York Agreement, officially the Agreement between the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands Concerning West New Guinea, is an agreement signed by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Indonesia regarding the administration of the territory of Western New Guinea. Major TNI Marthen Indey (1912–1986) was a colonial police officer in New Guinea, Dutch East Indies who later became nationalist fighter in the Indonesian National Revolution and a supporter of Papua becoming part of Indonesia. Silas Papare
Silas Ayari Donrai Papare (18 December 1918 – 7 March 1978) was a Papuan–Indonesian politician and guerilla leader who is a National Hero of Indonesia. Originating from the Yapen Islands, Papare trained and worked as a nurse prior to the Second World War, during which he organized local resistance and gathered intelligence against occupying Japanese forces. While he initially held pro-Dutch views after the war, this shifted after he was involved in pro-Indonesian rebellion and resulted in not being delegated to the Malino Conference, later on he was influenced by Sam Ratulangi into founding the pro-Indonesian Indonesian Irian Independence Party. Following a failed uprising against the Dutch, he was imprisoned before he left Papua in 1949, only once returning in 1950. Johannes Abraham Dimara
Major TNI Johannes Abraham Dimara (16 April 1916 – 20 October 2000) was an Indonesian National Hero from Papua. Early life He was born Arabei Dimara in Korem, North Biak, Biak Numfor on 16 April 1916 to a korano (village leader) Willem Dimara. He was schooled in a primary school of his village under Tuan Guru Simon Soselisa. At the age of 13 with approval from his family, he was adopted by Elias Mahubesi a colonial police leader from Ambon. He was then baptised with the name Johannes Abraham while still keeping his family name. He graduated from basic training at Ambon in 1935.
