Alan Davidson (food Writer)
Alan Eaton Davidson CMG (30 March 1924 – 2 December 2003) was a British diplomat and writer best known for his writing and editing on food and gastronomy. After leaving Queen's College, Oxford in 1948, Davidson joined the British diplomatic service, rising through the ranks to conclude his career as ambassador to Laos, from 1973 to 1975. He retired early and devoted himself to full-time writing about food, encouraged by Elizabeth David and others. He published more than a dozen books between his retirement and 2002, but his ''magnum opus'' was '' The Oxford Companion to Food'', a work of more than a million words, which took twenty years to complete and was published to international acclaim in 1999. Alan Hayes Davidson
Alan Hayes Davidson (1960–2018) was a British architect. He founded the architectural visualisation studio Hayes Davidson and pioneered architectural visualisation between 1989 and 1995. He was briefly married to Elaine Scott Davidson (née Cowell) in 2016 until his death in 2018. Early life Alan Hayes Davidson was born on 9 July 1960 to Anne Pretyman Davidson (née Hayes) (1922–2017) and Alexander Munro Davidson (1927–1978). Anne trained as a nurse and midwife before working as a flight attendant for Airwork airlines, a forerunner to BOAC. She married Scottish solicitor Alexander (known as Sandy to friends) Davidson in London in 1959. Alan was born in 1960, his sister Jane in 1961. Alan Keith Davidson (14 June 1929 – 30 October 2021) was an Australian cricketer of the 1950s and 1960s. He was an all rounder: a hard-hitting lower-order left-handed batsman, and an outstanding left-arm fast-medium opening bowler. Strongly built and standing six feet tall, Davidson was known for his hard hitting power, which yielded many long hit sixes. His left arm bowling was a mainstay of the Australian pace attack of the 1950s and early 1960s, and from the late 1950s he was widely regarded as one of the finest pace bowlers in the world. Davidson's classical bowling action imparted late swing, allowing him to move the ball to deceive batsmen and he bowled with great control, conceding fewer than two runs per over across his career. Alan Edward Davidson (born 1 June 1960) is an Australian former association football player. His father is Australian and his mother is Japanese. Club career Davidson made his senior debut in the Victorian State League in 1976 at the age of 15 playing for Altona City SC which had been his junior club. He transferred to South Melbourne in 1978, where he played until the end of the 1984 season, making 155 appearances and scoring 13 goals. He moved to England for the 1984–85 season for Nottingham Forest F.C. and a promising start where he broke into the first team as a right-back was curtailed by illness after suffering a blow to the head and having a seizure during a reserve game on a very cold night which side lined him till the end of the season. He resumed training and played for the first team before suffering a serious back injury which sidelined him for over a year, forcing him into early retirement at the age of 25. Alan Davidson (born 17 April 1960 in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire) is a former Scottish football goalkeeper. Davidson is the son of former FIFA referee Bob Davidson. Early years Davidson played his youth football with Royal Albert until June 1979, before joining Celtic for the start of season 1979–80. Davidson played in the reserve and youth teams during his season at Celtic Park. He re-joined Royal Albert for the 1980–81 season. Airdrieonians Davidson signed for Airdrieonians at the start of the 1981–82 season, where he played in 10 first team matches.
