Alain Caveglia (born 28 March 1968) is a French former professional footballer who played as a striker. Career Caveglia was born in Vénissieux, Rhône. A prolific goalscorer, he started at FC Gueugnon, making his Ligue 1 debuts on 21 August 1990 with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, against Stade Brestois 29. Vénissieux (; Arpitan: or in the Lyonnais dialect) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. Geography Vénissieux is located on the southern outskirts of Lyon. Toponymy The name ''Vénissieux'' derives from Latin ''Viniciacum'', itself crafted upon a Roman villa landlord named ''Vinicius''. Inhabitants are called 'Vénissians'. History Vénissieux was part of Nazi-occupied France during World War II. In May 1944, the Allies bombed the Nazi-held factories in the area, with a focus on Berliet factories. On 2 September 1944, Vénissieux was liberated by the Allies. UEFA Intertoto Cup
The UEFA Intertoto Cup (from la, Inter, 'between' + german: toto, ' betting pool'),Most precisely, from ( football pool); cf. often abbreviated and more known in the German-speaking world as UI Cup and originally called the International Football Cup, was a summer football competition. The competition was discontinued after the 2008 tournament. Teams who originally would have entered the Intertoto Cup now directly enter the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League from this point. Stade Malherbe Caen (; commonly known as SM Caen, SMC, or simply Caen) is a French professional football team, based in the city of Caen in Normandy, that competes in the Ligue 2.
