Al-Salam SC (Iraq)
Al-Salam Sport Club () is an Iraqi football team based in Baghdad, that plays in Iraqi First Division League. History In Premier League Al-Salam team played in the Iraqi Premier League for the first time in the 1991–92 season, and the team made a good start, and managed to defeat major teams in the league, such as: Al-Zawraa, Al-Minaa, Al-Karkh, and others, and finally finished in twelfth place, collecting 33 points. Next season, the 1992–93 season, the team was not good enough, and with a strange decision, the team was excluded from the league, and was replaced by Karbalaa after 46 games, with Karbalaa adopting the results obtained by Al-Salam up to that point, and eventually relegated to the Iraqi First Division League. Iraqi First Division League
The Iraqi First Division League is a Association football, football league that is the third tier of the Iraqi football league system, which was founded in 1974. The league consists of 20 teams split into two groups in the first stage. The top four teams in each group qualify for the second stage, where they are split into two further groups. The two group winners in the second stage are promoted directly to the Iraqi Premier Division League, while the two bottom teams in the first stage are relegated to the Iraqi Second Division League. The league is governed by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). In the 2023–24 Iraqi First Division League, 2023–24 season, Al-Mosul SC, Al-Mosul won the championship title after defeating Al-Kadhimiya SC, Al-Kadhimiya 6–4 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in the final match. Nadhim Shaker
Nadhim Shaker Salim (; 18 December 1958 – 11 September 2020) was an Iraqi football player and coach of the Iraq national team. Playing career Nadhim Shaker was one of the most talented defenders in Iraqi football history. He began his playing career at Al-Amal in 1976 before moving to Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya the following year and staying with the club until 1988. He then became a player-manager for the Al-Salam club. He played for the Iraq national team from 1978 till 1986. The defender represented Iraq at the 1979 World Military Championship and at the 1986 FIFA World Cup finals in Mexico playing against Paraguay, Belgium and the hosts, Mexico. Managerial career On 8 December 2018, Shaker became the new coach for Erbil. He led the team in 17 games, winning five. He ended up leaving the team on 27 April 2019. The Iraqi Premier Division League () is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Iraq Stars League. The league is contested by 20 clubs and is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Premier Division League are automatically promoted to the Stars League, while the third-placed team enters a promotion play-off.
