Iraqi Premier Division League
The Iraqi Premier Division League () is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Iraq Stars League. The league is contested by 20 clubs and is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Premier Division League are automatically promoted to the Stars League, while the third-placed team enters a promotion play-off. The two lowest-finishing teams are relegated to the First Division League. From the 2023–24 season, the competition's name was changed from First Division League to Premier Division League. In the 2023–24 season, Diyala won the title and was promoted alongside runners-up Al-Karma. Al-Minaa are the record holders in the tournament having won three titles. 1974–75 Iraqi National Second Division
The 1974–75 Iraqi National Clubs Second Division was the first season of what is now called the Iraqi Premier Division League, the second tier of the Iraqi football league system, since its establishment in 1974. 18 teams participated in the tournament. The league started on October 31, 1974. Al-Zawraa won the league championship and was promoted to the First Division (now called the Stars League), along with the four teams that finished the tournament in the first five positions in the standings, namely; Al-Jamiea, Al-Iktisad, Al-Hilla and Diyala. The four teams that finished in the bottom positions in the standings table were relegated to the Third Division, which are Al-Diwaniya, Al-Mosul, Al-Warkaa and Sulaymaniya. Mosul Sports Club () is an Iraqi professional football club based in Mosul, that plays in the Iraqi First Division League. History In the Iraqi Premier League 2007–08 season, Al-Mosul FC withdrew for security reasons. Hence they came back to the Iraqi Premier League without playing in the lower division. Al-Adhamiya Sport Club () is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Adhamiyah, Baghdad. History Early years Al-Adhamiya was founded in 1951 and competed in the Iraq Central FA Premier League from 1957–58 until 1959–60 when they were relegated. Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi In 1967, Al-Adhamiya merged with Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi to form Markaz Al-Shabab Al-Adhamiya. Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi were a club founded in 1934 as Al-Olympi Al-Malaki, later renaming to Al-Malaki in 1943, Al-Jumhouriya in 1958 and Al-Jumhouriya Al-Olympi in 1959. Al-Bahri Sport Club () is an Iraqi professional football club based in Al-Jubaila, Basra. In 1990, the Iraqi Defense Ministry dissolved the club within its decision to dissolve all Iraqi military clubs, the club was playing in the Iraqi Premier League, then it was reconstituted.
