Al-Jawf Offensive
The Al Jawf offensive was a Houthi offensive that began in February 2020 with clashes in the Al Jawf Governorate during the Yemeni Civil War (2014–present), Second Yemeni Civil War. Houthi forces were able to decisively capture the town of Al Hazm, Yemen, Al Hazm on 1 March 2020 from the Cabinet of Yemen, Hadi government. On 27 April, the first phase of the offensive ended with the Houthis capturing 3,500 square kilometers of territory in Al Jawf Governorate. After reinforcing, the Houthis launched the second phase of their offensive on 27 May, making further advances toward the city of Marib and capturing the Maas military base on 20 November, 2020. The Houthis halted the offensive on 5 February 2021, in order to account for changes in the Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen, Saudi-led coalition and Southern Transitional Council. The Popular Committees (), also known as the People's Committees, are armed groups formed by Tribes of Yemen, Yemeni tribes on behalf of more professional Yemeni Armed Forces, armed forces. Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud ( ''Khālid bin Salmān Āl Suʿūd''; born 1988) is a Saudi Arabian diplomat and politician who serves as the Saudi Arabian Minister of Defense. Turki bin Saleh Al-Maliki (; born 1974) is a Saudi Colonel and member of the Department of Plans and Operations at the command of the Royal Saudi Air Force. Southern Transitional Council
The Southern Transitional Council (STC; ) is a secessionist organization in southern Yemen. The 26 members of the STC include the governors of five southern governorates and two government ministers. It was formed by a faction of the Southern Movement. It was established in 2017, and it has called for and worked toward the separation of southern Yemen from the rest of the nation as it previously was until 1990. Declared on 11 May 2017, the council is headed by the former Governor of Aden Governorate, Aidarus al-Zoubaidi, as president, with former minister of state Hani Bin Breik as vice-president.
